Wow surprised that the zerg player in 164 was 500+ diamond. He made so many awful mistakes. Def. seemed like the average plat player. Awfull macro, awfull decision making, awful micro. Literally nobody in the world is good at the game yet, the games basically only just been released. So you can't say average plat player as that really hasn't been decided yet. ![]() I need to catch up with the dailies! I'm a good few episodes behind.

Once a few months pass and everyone that has been playing settles down, with a steady addition of more new players, the ranks and play styles will start splitting nicely. At this point, the ranks are not the best representation of one's skill. And the Daily is a great segment. I always try to keep up. It has definately made me a better player all the way from Bronze in phase 1 to platinum now (hopefully diamond shortly :p).

And just to clear some misconceptions, yeah I had a lot of minerals, but with 4+ bases that happens, I had less than 800 gas most of the game. I don't really think that having that much money over halfway through a 45 min game is that uncommon, watch Dimaga vs NTT on Delta Quadron, NTT had 10,000+ minerals and 3200+ gas 25 mins in because he had 4+ bases. I had a pretty good hold on the game at the time, so I wasn't worried about it, plus I'm a really new player. I know I'm not an amazing player, hence the "low level replays" but in my defense, that Protoss player is Rank2 Diamond with 76 wins and 64 loses, I was 9-1 at the time of playing him only having 10 games of 1v1 experience. I got my money army of Mutas, had him out based by 3 bases and I was chiseling away with the Mutas. I definitely learned a lot from having my game under the microscope, which I am very grateful for! I'm a newb, I can live with that :D EDIT: I am Rank 62 Platinum, Opponent is Rank3 Diamond

Zerg is ridiculously gas heavy as well, so it is understandable that your minerals will pile sky-high while you're low on gas. Thanks for helping us out Day[9]!

As Protoss when money gets high I can just spam warp gates and build more chargelots and stalkers. xD

I've learned that Mutas are great but definitely shouldn't be the center piece of my Zerg army as it chews through my Gas and lets my minerals get super high. Transitioning into a nice Roach/Hydra composition would allow for a better use of Gas/Minerals with a smaller group of Mutas for map control/harassment. Think thats what I'm gonna work on, that way if I lose my Mutas I'm not in as bad a position haha. I gotta play more 1v1s!!!

My god, he had like 6k+ minerals at a time. Why the f.... did he not take a few more expos. That does not require a lot of APM.

That does not require a lot of APM. Taking more expos actually takes a reasonable amount of time if you are going mass muta. You have to be really active with these guys, even a really really solid beastly good player like Madfrog gets lots and lots of minerals when he goes mass muta or micro intensive roach harass stuff. Just going for 6+ expos just because you can afford it is not worth it, if you see yourself getting too many minerals and not enough gas just throw down 2-3 extra queens and some hatches if you are not 200/200. If your whole gameplan is going muta then it might be worth it though, cause you need all that gas. But saying putting up expos doesn't require much APM is not true for the average low diamond player if he has to micro his mutas while doing all the other stuff that has to be done. ![]() Okay, it can't be a bad thing to take the whole map, but if you are not using these hatches anyway because you don't have the awareness and the APM you could as well build them in your base. I agree though that when I'm facing an average zerg player that his macro feels sooo good at ~400-500 diamond. Even while constantly harassing him you can't let him take a third base without getting overwhelmed, and if you wait too long he just gets t3 and destroys you. But saying that Grimwulf didn't play good is mean. You just have to watch your own replays to see similar mistakes be made all the time. Even if you feel like you are much better in game, it's just surprising when you see all your mistakes in the replay. At least that's what I'm feeling all the time, and I see similar mistakes made by my opponents.
