hmm comparing white-ra to Artosis and Brat_OK i'll say white-ra was so boring to watch, void rays... come on... I got a feeling that I was watching my bronze friend playing right there...

I'd rather say that we can see white-ra use those void rays brillantly. He is not at all rushing to void rays and trying to end the game in five minutes as we can see a lot in bronze league. Instead he uses them to harass the terran player as a part of his play and then transition to other units. To me it seems very very solid and not boring at all .

I watched those replays before this daily but Day9's analysis is something else...

You're so good !

Void rays are a unit in starcraft. Most units in starcraft were designed to be used. Using void rays to harass is as viable a strategy as any other, it's stupid to just say "only bronze level players use void rays".

Lets just say, im happy im not protoss and was hoping for white-ra to give me some good insight into playing protoss as a pro, void rays are nothing new, and it doesnt take a pro player to figure out that all in void ray rush is a bad thing.

Rushing Void Rays is NOT a bad thing. It Allows you to for the T into certain Actions That you can abuse later.

That Was the whole point of the daily!

White-Ra is very interesting to watch, for the longest time he was using void rays almost every tournament. HIs opponents got used to this, then all of a sudden he dropped the void rays and went for awesome agressive builds that didn't use Void rays and threw off a lot of his opponents.

Do you know what an all in is? Making 1-2 void rays for harass is not an all in play. The strat white-ra uses vith VR switch to zealots would be weak in tourney play if the opponent knows its coming but in a ladder game its extremely strong because the T player will always overcommit to countering void's

For as pain in the ass as it is to transition from stargate for voids to council->archives->dark shrine, WhiteRa sure does make it look easy. I have a hard enough time holding off early aggression from T just teching normally. The only limiting factor I can think of is that I don't have epic baller status macro.

If Day9 is ever planning on doing more broodwar analysis I hope he would do about (Z)Jaedong vs (Z)YellOw. Most epic ZvZ I have seen in a long long time.

A key point I noticed in the daily that I had often missed before is that WhiteRa rarely (if ever) used Void Rays defensively - they were always placed so that any Terran push carried with it a risk of a base trade. This would either result in an actual base trade or force the T pushes to be smaller than they would otherwise be, which I suspect probably cancels out the extra difficulty in getting other tech out early.

Void Ray into Dark Templar seems to to be a VERY interesting transition. To me, this is very reminiscent of the PvZ Bisu Build back in Brood War, except Void Rays can attack Ground as well.

Yeah.. That was TRULY an epic game! I do not watch many Brood War games after SC2 beta release, but I just happened to view that match beacuse I'm a (Z)Jaedong fan..

That game is awesome.. Very watchable!
