Such as like, since they know TL is a huge community, they will make a TL channel... etc. I thought that is what I heard (without the example of TL) Yes he said that.

Channels should be created on demand only, so as to avoid unnecessary load on the servers, which will now have to manage a lot more information (achievements, advanced matchmaking, online replays (not at launch but someday), etc.) Starcraft ONE has online replays. It's not a stress on the server, no more than a normal game anyway.

Really, it's not a huge deal; chat channels are almost impossible to follow, and Battle.net will have improved connectivity over the original anyway, in all parts of the game (including, almost definitely, clan support). At the very least, I'd wait to get mad until we know more about how the system works...

At launch you'll have Party Chat, Private chat (Messaging with to people on your friends list) and game chat. However, after launch they will implement a Group chat, where people can setup 'groups' and people can subscribe to that group. Like TeamLiquid would make a TeamLiquid Group and then members can subscribe to that group and talk like normal chat, however each group will have admins which can add group unique features such as news, bulletins, and even manage who is accepted in the group or not (i.e. you can have private groups).

I am not going to freak out about it until beta/ launch. I can't imagine them not having chat channels that people can join similar to popular clan channels on bnet now.

Well what I'm thinking of from WoW is you could basically create your own set of channels and autojoin them everytime you login and whatnot. Then from there you can moderate them, make them public/private, and any number of people could join them. Its similar to what we have now with bnet but a lot easier to manage and a lot better since you can be in more than one channel at once. We can see a 'party chat' thing from bnet2.0 thread. That's really nice especially when you want to create games with a group of friends and have them in the game before any other slots are taken. But I hope that 'party chat' isn't the only form of group chat Blizzard gives us.
