I'm decent at Touhou (can 1cc all the games quite easily except SA/UFO on Normal) but I just can't get used to how unresponsive the controls on LV are :3

But then again, I've only tried once. I'll go for it again later.

Played Lost Vikings with my arcade stick, with turbo function for shooting so I only had to held it down =)

If any of you have arcade sticks, just use Joy2Key and map the keys to the keyboard controls.
Feels good man.

Um, yeah, I have Lunatic 1ccs and have gone as far as perfecting latter stages of the various games (no bombs/no deaths). upgrades change 3 times and then fly off screen. pick them if they changed to something u need.

u should get 2 drones as soon as u can because drones r 2 more weapons and 2 more lives!

after that u should get missiles. plasma do more dmg on sngle target but its much easier to beat boss with missiles than to survive until boss with plasmabeam.

if other r full, get bombs/shields!

and most important use bombs/shields every time u see no possibility to avoid dmg! there r much more upgades than u need anyway. so use them! u will need them mostly for zerglevel and second and perhaps last boss and terran level against science vessels or if u find urself captured behind this lightningbeams.

I had never tried playing lost viking more than a few minutes so I had only got to the second stage before today. Since the Lost Viking is the only achievement I have left in the campaign I sat down today and tried to beat it. When I was on the terran stage the third time (stage 9) I screwed up and lost my powerups and forgot to use bombs. I guess I was tired. I ended up getting 460.000 points

I didn't feel like trying again after that. It shouldn't be too hard to get 500.000 though so I guess ill do it later at some point.

First time I tried for this achievement, I died during third Terra tron at 496K. God that was painful.

The time I got it, I wanted to make SURE that didn't happen, so I farmed interceptors from the carriers each of the three runs for a bit to make sure I had 500K before I had to face terra-tron a third time. Ended up getting like 560K anyways before getting bored and suiciding.

Before level 9 Terratron:499.250 points, one bomb, no life to spare, 3am in the morning.

I would call myself clutch right now

Was the last achievement I needed also.

Was much easier with those Plasma Weapons. Laser''s DPS is meh, even if you shoot everywhere at once.

I got 500k before level 9 terratron. Like someone else said try to farm the interceptors for a bit before moving on. Getting plasma beam was a big mistake on level 6 wraiths. Get side missiles and try to get plasma before terratron. That's probably the hardest transition you have to do. I just used side missiles for carrier and leviathan.

The viking seems to be badly made, your shooting faster when spamming space and you can only move in straight lines while shooting.

But it was easy only took time.

You don't really need the transition if you got plenty of bombs stocked up. Side missiles and 2 drones rip through the Wraiths and the Science Vessels (the 2 BCs are pretty easy, too), so you should be able to pick up plenty of bombs without having to use any/many. Then you can just keep side missiles and each time the Terra-trons platforms/arms fire their goop, just shoot off the bomb and watch it all poof. Only things you'll have to dodge is the sweeping beam and the bouncing disk, both of which are ridiculously easy to avoid without all other projectiles on screen

Whaaaat?! You can mash the space bar?! I got to 492k without...
I also would've gotten the 500k at level 8 already; probably because I farmed Interceptors in levels 1, 4 and 7 and generally used side missiles to get the most out of the enemies.

edit: Oh, and thanks, Opossum, neat piece of code! Saved me the hassle of getting that together myself

I've gotten 450k, 475k, 430k, and then 530k to finally get the achievement, but shortly after realized that my Bnet crashed and it did not count.

I hate this game so much.

I was able to get over 500k with side rockets and drones and hell I could've played that so long and not dying, but I decided to kill myself after I got the achievement... spacesmashing isn't good for your keyboard and your hand

You can instantly kill everything if you're moving sideways a bit, making rockets and siderockets hit everything. Drones are also very nice to have as soon as possible and bombs after.

I used bombs mainly only at Zerg and Terran bosses, because I got a bit lazy dodging all their lasers and tentacles.
Well it took me about 1½ hours to get this and my left arm was... hurt due space smashing :D
tried to switch to wasd and right hand space, but it felt bad as controlling viking with left hand was a bit meh for me

Well atleast for me, side rockets and drones were they key and I didn't really need bombs

Im curious about how the difficult setting in the campaigne effects the "Lost Viking" game? Or it it the same difficulites regardless of what you choose in the capmagine?

once i understood how to play, i got to 313,000 pts on my first try(knowing how to use bombs/drones/what weapons)
