"I must go...... to the Overmiiind." "I bring tidings of dooooooooooooooom." And one my of least favorite: + Show Spoiler + "Taaaaasssaaaadaaaarr, but........... you DIIIEEED" It seems like they were going for some kinda Star Wars Yoda feel, but to me all it did was making Zeratul sound like a senile old man. Zeratul's a warrior-poet, but he never talked in that kind of manner in the original. This was especially clear when I noticed that all of Zeratul's best lines in SC2 were when he was talking more normally, namely the cinematic encounter with Kerrigan because he talked seriously in a serious situation, rather than the campaign where he acts all whimsical even in the midst of his race being pushed to extinction. I still think the voice is good, so all I hope for is that they change the directing for Zeratul's actor so he doesn't sound like he's on drugs the whole time.

I think it's not about the voices but rather about who the characters have become. Zeratul losing it and roaming 'void' to find some prophecy? Gimme a break. And raynor become handsome and disproportionate drunk is annoying. Cause even though now every action movie is filled with underdog-looking types, at the time Raynor was unique.

Maybe that was their intention all along? ![]() So how is powerless, zergless human kerrigan supposed to fight hybrids? Maybe Zeratul was manipulated(cause he lost it) and Raynor couldnt see the truth because he's still very much in love.

To be honest, the quality of the game is improved so much just by having the original voice of Jim Raynor. Seriously, everything else could be different, but he could carry the game by himself. Serious tribute should be paid to Robert Clotworthy, if Raynor's voice was different, the game would have a really unfamiliar feel. Has been done by Gosugamers in an cool and long interview with Robert himself ![]() http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/3941078/ http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/3941418/ I personally thought the voice acting was pretty much in line with what they wanted to convey from each character. Missed old Infested Kerrigan's voice, but considering the way the campaign went, it seems she will spend at least a while in her "Sarah" state, where her voice acting is 1000x better in SC2 imho ![]()

*I loved seeing Artanis 'grown up' donning awesome Protoss uniform. His voice, while not as young, captured his youthful courage showcased in SC1 well. It doesn't make sense Lore-wise though. Protoss live to be 500-600 years. 4 years is more like a month to them. If you mean Artanis when he shows up in the final Zeratul mission, remember that this is a prophecy of the future, indeed it appears that these protoss are the very last ones left standing before the universe ends. Any number of years could have passed before Artanis became grown up, got a mothership and stuff. I agree with the others in this thread who stated that the problem is not the actors who I think did a very decent job given what they had to work with. The problem is the script, which is awful. You can polish a turd all day long but you won't turn it into a diamond. No actor could have saved that script.

Everyone else I loved. I thought Tychus was awesome. I laughed out loud everytime he told me he was a bad man. The only thing I think SC1 has on SC2 in terms of story presentation (and this might be the nostalgia speaking) was that it just seemed to have more. I remember SC1 as this huge space opera where SC2 seems more an episode, albiet a very good one.

Now he's some fattie with an uncharacteristic generic voice. The exact same VA did Mengsk as in the original. 2. Tassadar:: Remember his UNIQUE muffled voice? He sounded like a generic noble protoss again. 3. Zeratul: He sounded far darker, mysterious, and scary. I don't mind his new voice as much. The Protoss in general have lines that are so cheesy, pathetic and elf-like that I don't even pay much attention to their voices. However, I did notice that Zeratul's VA is worse in every way. The original sounded much more brooding, wise, and mysterious. 4. Raynor: I know it's the same actor, but he was down-to-earth, unassuming, and far lively in SC1. "This is Jimmy!" "I should've stayed in bed this morning." His emotions were more realistic too, "First you kill Tassadar, now Fenix. How many noble souls must you kill for your goal?" Now he's too much of a campy cliche emo hero... Agreed. New voices I DID like: *I loved seeing Artanis 'grown up' donning awesome Protoss uniform. I'm pretty sure that it's the same VA as Artanis from BW (I'm not positive though). *Kerrigan's human voice was hot (as a ghost). Her voice in SC1 was ditzy and annoying. Her infested voice was amazing in SC1. It's alright in now. It might just be the script (Kerrigan is by far the most pathetic and one-dimensional character in WoL), but I thought Kerrigan was absolutely atrocious all-around. I feel like the VA was grabbed for the name, not the quality. The VA from BW was absolutely fantastic and really pulled off "Queen bitch of the universe."

As for the voice acting, I thought everyone was fine except for emo-Raynor, and Mensk sounded a BIT different, but it could just be the recording. Say what you will, but it's just not the same without Harry Shearer at the height of his career.

Tassadar I like Jim and Kerrigan. Mengsk sounds less cunning but fine. I like zeratuls voice but it seems to change between the cinematics with him, the pre-mission "vision" briefings, and his in-game voice (maybe its just me)

I liked the new Kerrigans uninfested voice fine. But I couldn't stand her infested. (This could be the fault of her lines and not the actor though, I’m not sure.) And with Zeratul I really liked the new one. Seeing as the old actor died, I think the new voice is an ample replacement. + Show Spoiler + Now for Tassadar . . . *sigh* Tassadar. I love Tassadar, he's probably one of my favorite characters. But in Sc2 he sounded so pathetically Protoss generic I totally forgot about what was happening in the story for a while and my heart just kind of sank when I first heard it. His voice was the single most disappointing thing in the campaign. (The campaign although not as good as it could have been, was still pretty good as far as my opinion goes.) Perhaps I wouldn’t have minded a voice acting change for this character, but he just sounded too generic in his brief appearance. And I like they way Artanis sounds, to echo some of what has been said, he’s still got the youthful energy and courage, with his optimistic view of things. But while also sounding wiser. When the Protoss campaign comes along I may end up liking this character quite a bit. Oh, and I really liked the voices for Warfield, Tosh, and particularly Tychus.
