Getting 200/200 isnt hard if you have the income with all the reinforcements they supply. (5 voids, and 4 carriers and the Mship How do you get up to 200/200??? I am usually able to mine out the gold before I lose it, but how do you get up to 200/200?? Do you just abandon the archives and defend production buildings and Nexi?" Not sure if i got lucky but i lost very little units from wave to wave, i think the colos and archons are a nice mix because the archons own bio units hard and regen all the shields if they live from a wave. Also Zealots are a big part of my army and they are real cheap compared to there supply. I just held my army on top of the archive and meet each wave at the chokes. It is important to target fire the brooldlords with your rays. Also dont forget zeratul can CC ultras and phoenix can CC hybrids

Dark Templars lose their worth as soon as zerg starts to spam out those overseers, you will however be able to get around 1k kills without too much problem with just Dark Templars and pheonixes, even managed to get to 2,4k with pure dark templar / pheonix build but in order to make it with that setup you HAVE to know the overseer pattern, when they come and where. Note: This setup won't make the research bonus, at least not the way i did it in. However, start out with pumpin DT, the units you are handed at the start will be able to take out the first 4 waves (at least) when you have finished walling the 2 upper ramps with DT, pump out tons of pheonixes, voidrays and carriers (as soon as you can), you will be able to keep it up for a pretty long time with only DT and by the time the zerg gets out too many overseers, you'll have a solid air army to take out the rest of the kills needed, managed to get to almost 2,9k with this strategy (and i was failing quite hard at some points) Make sure you pick up the ranged hybrids with phoenixes, always focus overseer until your DT wall is dead. This might take a few tries to make it work however.(overseer pattern)

There are 3 entrances to your base. The enemy will come in waves 1 entrance at a time for a good part of the game. Start by queueing up more probes and putting down a 2nd forge + robotics bay so you can train colossi. Hotkey all your ground forces together, and hotkey all your air units together. Watch the observers closely. You'll see the enemy massing in front of them before attacking. Move your army to protect the cannons. Don't cross the bridges. Keep making colossi and keep up all the upgrades both air and ground. Non stop. Also, try to replenish your phoenix numbers if any die. I started to float on minerals around the 16th minute mark before the archives achievement, so I walled off the south-eastern bridge with lots of cannons. When the hybrids will start coming, lift them up with the phoenixes and focus fire. Do this on the ranged ones preferably, but later on use it on all the hybrids you encounter. Finishing the archives bonus mission should be a cake-walk at that point. I was floating on around 5K mins and 200/200 food army worth of colossi/phoenixes/voids. Once the archives submerge, retreat to the higher ground of your base and start to wall off with cannons too. If you start losing units, make colossi and void rays. No more phoenixes. At this point you should easily have 3-3-3 ground army and 3-0 air army. When I killed the 2500 necessary, I just kinda gave up after that. I didn't build anything any more. The enemy needed another 25 minutes to finally beat down my whole army :/. The corruptors and mass mutas come waaaay too late for the Z. Before that, the heroes+ void rays are unkillable. In the end I defended for 49 mins and killed 3100 units. that one works perfectly!

Agreed. First time around I hadn't thought of retreating to the high ground and walling off, but doing so allowed me to survive until 2983 kills. Thanks!

Here's what I did: Got enough probes for full saturation (3x the number of mineral nodes) asap. Meanwhile I built a forge and core for double upgrades, and a support bay. Basically I just spammed upgrades and colossi for the first part of the game, sinking all excess minerals into cannons at each of the 3 chokes. It's also VERY important to keep 6-8 phoenixes up at all times for gravity beaming the ranged hybrids only. Not landing enough gravity beams could mean the difference between dead units and live ones. After void rays come I focused heavily on void ray production, still rebuilding cannons with excess minerals. By the time void rays came I was almost at full upgrades, I think i was starting the last shield upgrade. Eventually, around 1600-1800 kills, enemies start pouring in from two entrances at once. This is when you should move up to the high ground and start cannoning it. Not long after, around 2200-2300 kills, my entire ground army and base was dead. Luckily I had enough phoenixes leftover to grav beam the ranged hybrids to kill them, and i got the remaining 200 kills from the zerglings and roaches that collect in what used to be the main. Ended with 2577 kills.

Seriously, Immortals are the key. They completely WRECK the hybrids, which are by far the biggest problem.

Got 3436 kills with Pure Stalker/Colossus pump along with the trigger units/heroes so I had around 15-20 Colossus at all times along with stalker support and just moved the army around to intercept. While defending the archive or whatever, I pretty much walled off whatever I could with a bunch of cannons and just moved up after the 25 minutes. Don't see what's so hard about this :/ What difficulty were you on? I'm not convinced that Stalker/Colossi would survive the mass Hybrids.

Was pretty damn easy the 2nd time around (first time I tried to get a really cute and cool looking army composition and got rolled). This was me sitting at 200/200 for a while and never getting the high yield (I was on Brutal and any time I tried to expand 50 Zerglings raped it instantly). Seriously, Immortals are the key. As others have said, upgrades are very important. From the start I got ground and air weapons. The ground weapons pay off with Colossi. When I was able to build Carriers, I built 3 Stargates and purely pumped from those, putting the air weapons upgrade into effect. At the left and right entrances you can easily wall off with Gateways and mass Cannons behind them. I wasn't able to find an easy way to wall of at top, so I just threw up a weird Pylon wall to block the Ultras they send and massed Cannons. Of course, being a defensive mission, mass Cannons everywhere are the way to go. Carriers, Colossus, Storm, and the heroes just simply dominate. Of course you get overrun eventually (that's the point of the mission overall ![]() I can see the other methods (DT wall and pick off Overseers, Phoenix to pick up Hybrids) being perfectly viable as well, but I think this way is just easier seeing as how you can attack move everywhere with Colossi and Carriers and kill everything in sight, while throwing in some Storms into the mix. I think I ended up with about 3500 kills at the end. The mission made me pretty sad though ![]()

Took the strat from another thread, but after losing twice (not even close), void/col worked beautifully. Went almost pure collosi/void on brutal and ended up somewhere under 4000 kills. Defended the archive too. I think I threw in some stalkers and cannons occasionally. Upgrades are a must, obviously. Phoenix lift the scary guys. Once the archive goes down, retreat to your main and wall off the two ramps with gates and then mass cannon/void/col. Easy mode..

A key to surviving is to micro your phoenixes well and lift up all the hybrids.

Second attempt I tried doing the DT wall thing someone suggested, into immortal/archon/zealot late game, and it failed utterly, not even breaching 2000 kills. The problem with that strategy is that it takes 8-9 DTs to wall one side off, and then they just send overseers (the second post in this thread is wrong) so the wall dies. Waste of money. I'm gonna try mass colossus with phoenix/void ray support though, seems legit. I stumbled on the money composition. Immortal/Colossus/carrier. Basically I was using pheonix to lift the hybrids that do tons of damage but you can't lift them all, and it turns out you NEED immortals to kill those dudes. Colossus are good for the AOE and carriers are damage soaks and do quite a bit themselves. I never rebuilt any cannons except when i was expanding to the gold. I pumped the odd HT/Zealot or stalker but i had 2 robos pumping colossus/immortal and 2 stargates pumping carriers + seneledis and artanis' ones. Don't know how you guys like like 6 robos and 4 stargates you only get 1-2 bases. I had to give up the gold after half way in to save the archives and my base. (Shoulda taken it earlyier. I had like 2600 then i self-killed my whole army because I didn't know there were achievements to go further. And yeah spam attack upgardes asap armour and shields are secondary.
