Haven't gotten the game yet, but I think the first ones I'd try that weren't in SC1 would be things like:
terrible terrible damage thick terran armour tough protoss shields I have the tower (lol, he-man + xel'naga tower references mashed together.. Would be a black sheep wall if it does work) hell it's about time (guessing it would be like operation cwal?)

I'd laugh if bonjwa was god mode

buildingcarriersisaveryusefultalenttoihave should just spawn 15 carriers
installing the game right now btw it is 43% done.

Sorry if this is inappropriate for the thread, but does anyone know the history/reasons behind the SC1 cheats?

Is that how the OP did it or are there multiple ways? No, that won't work. Using a Hex Editor is the basic way to read through an executable (something like Hex Workshop). To view memory you can use a tool like SoftICE (not for the casual computer user, it's designed for systems drivers programmers, so be careful).
ahaaa, time to start meddeling.

Every game has em, nothing special I would say.

I was playing with the map editor and I found a list of cheats... only problem was I only found what they do not what they are. maybe some one else can work with this and find something else.
+ Show Spoiler +This is what i found in that list: god mode cooldown cost check defeat fast build fast heal fog of war food usage resources ignore tech requirements Time Of Day Upgrades (1) upgrades (2) victory
I don't remember which section of the map editor i found it in. It was multiple rows and columns and each thing above seemed to have an enable and disable function looked somthing like this:
cheat/ignorefoodusageEnable ..|.. core.sc2.mod cheat/ignorefoodusageDisable .|.. core.sc2.mod
(ignorefoodusage is just for an example. I dont remeber exactly what followed the slash after cheat)
I'm not exactly sure how to open the mod file type in any thing but the editor so I could really get much farther then that

does using a cheat disable achievements for that specific level or for the rest of the campaign?

I'd guess just that level since cheats shouldn't carry over between levels.
I miss WC2 where it would actually say "Cheater" as your rank that level if you used them :D.

Using cheats disables all achievements in the campaign. I used them on like the 6th mission or something, and I haven't had an achievement since.
|
I did a search through the SC2 EXE file with a hex editor and didn't find the word "terrible" in it. I'd look in the MPQs next.
|
Anyone try "Stay frosty"? I bet some of the more popular quotes from the original will probably make their way into cheats.
I'd try it myself, but...

I'm really glad I didn't try any cheats just to scout out the mission ...
