Maybe the answer is that they were just tired and the subs didn't help either.

Germany eliminated Argentina in 2006, 2010 and 2014. Since then Germany just sucks and Argentina has made the finals twice (and losing in the finals to Germany in 2014). That makes me smile. I really wanted England to get another WC, but playing like this, it is just not deserved.

The average level of our performance has been quite poor.

I mean just look at the threat/momentum chart before and after the goal. Totally 50/50 game before, you could argue that England were actually slightly better with how they were defending the last line. Then just total shut down, park the bus, for 40 minutes against the greatest player and playmaker of all time, against long shot and cross specialists like De Paul, Enzo as well. Scaloni made excellent choices too like getting Montiel on there and letting Macca just make continuous runs into the box, should've scored at least one of those chances he got. It's at minimum kinda funny heh

Both refs seemed solid, and let the players play. They had some trouble controlling the very emotional players, but I can forgive it. The games were not about the reffing, as it should be.

Tuchel basically did what Southgate was constantly criticised for Be in a decent spot, concede all momentum to hold on and when it ends up not working you don’t have the personnel to turn it around Disappointing performance for sure
