He is like that every game, vs Chelsea in league cup he did the exact same thing multiple times but never gets picked up. agree completely. lamela is low key the dirtiest player in epl. if he was as good as suarez or costa hed have been crucified already. maybe you have to credit him for his ability to stay under the radar

Not even the best rabona Lamela has scored which is crazy to think about

Napoli knocked off Milan 1-0 giving Inter a 9 point margin at the top of Serie A.
PSG meanwhile lost to 19th placed Nantes giving Lille a 3 point buffer.

And Ronaldo with as perfect of a hat trick as you get - scoring all three goals in the first half, with no interruptions, one with each leg and one header - bringing him up to 23 goals in 23 league games.
He's 36 years old but still moves like his early 20s. The way he consistently out-jumps the entire defense is seriously something else. As a fellow 36 year old, I can't help but admire it.

Have we checked it Ronaldo is any good at Brood War? I wouldn’t put it past the guy

This is maybe just a bit purer:

The way they control the ball on this cornfield is quite remarkable

Tomorrow is CL draw for Ro8 and onward:
Bayern München (GER) Borussia Dortmund (GER) Chelsea (ENG) Liverpool (ENG) Manchester City (ENG) Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) Porto (POR) Real Madrid (ESP)
The teams to beat are Man City and Bayern imo
|
It's kind of hard to think of a team that can beat City over two matches right now, but then again we've been here multiple times during Pep's City stint.

Hm, I think their consistency is more impressive than their top level, in a way. Obviously they have a really high top level too - but I'm not sure City's best 3 games of the season are that much better than Liverpool's best 3 games of the season.
I do agree that City and Bayern look like the strongest two teams, but I also think most of the teams have a higher than 20% chance against either one of them. Porto knocking out Juventus was equally as surprising as what Dortmund knocking out City would be, imo.
I mean turn this into an 8 team league featuring these 8 teams and imo there's almost no question that City and Bayern occupy the top two spots, but a two game series is highly volatile. I think at least PSG and Liverpool have shown top levels throughout the season that indicate that they could make trouble for both teams, if they give a peak performance.

My personal ranking is
1. Man City 2. Bayern 3. PSG 4. Chelsea 5. Liverpool 6. Real 7. Dortmund 8. Porto

Juve haven’t been amazing this season, the Porto result was more a continuation of their spluttering form so wasn’t a giant surprise, or at least I’d find Dortmund taking City significantly more so if it does occur.
I’d fancy a lot more teams against City in the one-off final than I do over two legs, with the gigantic proviso that Pep doesn’t get his tactics horrendously wrong.
With Bayern and a fair few of his ties with City Pep has got things so wrong that his team just gets blown away so badly in a leg, or even a single half that his team can’t recover the deficit.
If they just play reasonably normally and to the standards they’ve set lately they should be able to see it out over most of anyone over two legs.
City have all the advantages over basically everyone, except perhaps Bayern in some areas. Their league is basically sewn up, and their embarrassment of riches especially in midfield is paying dividends. In a normal season it can prove problematic to keep everyone happy, in this condensed Covid season with all the demands and fatigue it’s basically all advantageous. Having more injuries both benefits the deeper squad, but also keeps the troops happy as they’re almost guaranteed to be called on as somebody else gets fatigued or injured.
Teams that have a first eleven/13-14 to match City and Bayern in normal times have to have almost miraculous luck to still be in that state come the business end of the CL, much more than if we had no Covid and truncated seasons to contend with, both in injuries and managing fatigue.
Liverpool and Real have been especially ravaged in this regards as teams whose best teams could beat anyone on any given day.
Could still see them doing it, hoping for some classic ties!
Not sure how I’d do my ranking. City and Bayern I think up the top, then my gut feel is Chelsea next. Their bloated squad seems to be an asset given how it’s still the honeymoon and everyone is trying to play their way into Tuchel’s heart.
Liverpool and PSG I’d have next up. I think they’ve got as much capacity to win the thing as they do to have a nightmare and bomb out next round.

There's quite a few interesting manager vs manager/team clashes possible on the draw. Klopp vs Dortmund, Tuchel vs Dortmund, Klopp vs Tuchel, Poch/PSG vs Tuchel, Guardiola vs Zidane and so on.
It's a bit of a shame that Jose couldn't make it to the party this year.
