On a side note, why no one ever tries to buy-out Agüero? Some team like PSG perhaps?
100m for Higuain really makes no sense whatsoever. I'd rather get Aguero for that kind of money. Might even have some leftover

Yeah both of them scored like 36 goal in a Serie A season... They are good but Higuain is way better, if Juventus buy him i think that the Serie A winner is already decided (not that there are many doubts now, Juventus has like 95% chance to win again this season) and we will have a new contender for the Champions League. It's like when they sold Zidane to Real Madrid and bought Nedved... so much envy for their ability to get always the better end of a transfer.

Gomez scored 28 goals in Süperlig, is he worth 100 mill now as well? What a stupid argument, pretty hard for anyone that doesn't actually PLAY in Serie A to score there isn't it? Higuain never impressed me at Real, he wasn't better than Benzema over there. To call him CLEARLY better than Auba or Morata is just bias because you watch only serie a.

So how is this Andre Gomes? I dont think I've seen him play ever. Transfer fee is really high (35+20 variables).
|
Gomez in Serie A got like 7 goal over 30 matches, Higuan 71 over 104 matches. Morata did even worse in a far better team, Aubameyang maybe could score like 20 or more goal in a season but what Higuain did last season was to broke the record of scored goal in a season (record that neither Ibrahimovic or Totti or Batistuta or Crespo or Schevchenko or Ronaldo or any other great striker that played in the italian league could broke, it was 70 years old). And it wasn't like a fluke, he always scored tons of goals wherever he played. I always watch others league (mostly Premier League) and imho in the centre striker position Higuain is second only to Ibrahimovic Suarez Aguero and maybe Lewandowski. The problem is the price, i agree that 94 mln € for a 30 years old striker is not a great deal but Napoli will sell him only for the full transfer clause of his contract. And i don't think you can buy the others striker of his level for much less and Juventus now to step up a level in the international scene must get a world class striker to replace Morata (i don't think he could be defined world class but he has the talent) and the Higuain deal is the best option for them... or they could go full retard and buy Icardi from Inter for 70 mln € :-D

says higuain is second only to.....*proceeds to name 4 other players*. that would make him 5th buddy

Valencia were awful without him last season and then when he came back he pretty much won them all the points they got. He is probably looking at replacement for Iniesta is my guess and he has that potential easily.

I'm not denying tha Higuain is a top10 striker world wide, maybe even top 5, but as you said he's getting older, and it's always hard to compare goals scored in a season, because in my opinion Serie A overall quality has been on a steady decline, which makes it easier to look great. I just don't think one amazing season makes him worth more than say 60 million.

He choked in big games before but the 2 others didn't really do anything spectacular against big teams in their career. I'm biased of course, but for me Suarez is number 1 (well, if you don't count Messi) with a big margin, then Lewandowski/Higuain would be 2nd/3rd. Succeeding as a 9 is tough these days, the biggest stars are on the wing or AM.
Higuain's price seems a bit high, but that's the law of supply and demand. Which other 9 is available? For the same quality, no one.

For AC Milan, a much-discussed Chinese takeover can not happen quickly enough.
A seven-time European champion, the team has spent the last half-decade in the doldrums. It has missed making the Champions League for four straight years and hasn’t been able to attract the talent that could reverse its fortunes.
There have been several reports of a coming sale over the past two years, only for nothing to materialize. Now, a Chinese group led by businessman Sonny Wu appears to be closing on a 750 million euro ($825 million) takeover. The team’s owner, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, recently said a deal is close and that the Chinese buyers have committed to invest 400 million euros into the club over the next two years.
An injection of fresh capital could clear the way for Milan’s resurgence and allow the team’s front office to execute plans that have been stuck while the ownership saga rumbled on. It will also help to reassure the club’s patient corporate sponsors that the team is on track to return to the top.
“The investment suddenly allows you to restructure the team greatly and also restructure the organization,” Jaap Kalma, Milan’s commercial director, said by phone. “The strategic decisions have been difficult to make, and a number of investments have been held back.”
Berlusconi bought Milan in 1986 and turned it into one of soccer’s iconic teams and a perennial power. The billionaire’s lavish spending in the early years helped lure some of the sport’s top talent, players who in turn drew an army of followers around the world.
Milan remains popular in China, where the Italian league was the first high-level soccer to be broadcast by state television. Globally the club claims to have more than 380 followers, a number bettered by only five or six other teams, according to Kalma.
The international visibility means annual commercial revenues of about 100 million euros from long-term sponsorships with Adidas AG, Emirates and others. Still, the recent years of disappointing play -- last season’s 10th place league finish was the team’s worst since 1997 -- has led to some tough conversations with corporate partners. “It’s something that slowly but surely is hurting,” Kalma said. “There’s obviously a moment they become anxious as well.”
Appeasing sponsors is not just a problem for Milan. Kalma pointed to Manchester United’s recent hiring of Jose Mourinho, a Portuguese coach with a history of creating winning teams in the short term, after a consecutive season of failure. United’s commercial operation is considered one of the biggest and most sophisticated in soccer, and with that comes high expectations.
“It’s not for nothing Manchester United chose Mourinho -- they want to get results quickly,” Kalma said. “If you have pushed your commercial potential to that extent your partners expect returns.” The team leaves for the U.S. this week, where it will play the first of three matches in the International Champions Cup against Bayern Munich in Chicago on July 27. www.bloomberg.com

Andre Gomes is a great player, but I can't help but feel the timing is wrong for a Barca move at the moment. Give him 2 more years and he's world class, but he needs to continue playing and I'm not sure if Barca are ready to bench Iniesta for him (Iniesta is also still a much better player than Gomes). Barca also still have Arda, although he may be on the way out.

Yeah very true, could arguably need another 1 or maybe 2 seasons of first team guaranteed football which you don't get with Iniesta still being around at Barca thats for sure. Will be interesting with that point being made, i do hope it doesn't stutter him and he still sees playing time as his potential looks phenomenal but he has been injury prone!

i see how people who have not see higuain play for a year or so can see him as not that good but he is seriously in the best shape he ever was now, not comparable to 3/4 ysears ago imho

I hope so too. He definitely has great potential, he's only 22. Shame he didn't end up in the EPL btw, would have loved to see him play in England. Were Chelsea ever interested?

The press said we were, said we bid but it was rejected i think. Yeah £40million bid rejected by Valencia supposedly but i don't know. However it said 4 clubs lodged bids and i guess either Valencia accepted Barca bid or the player chose Barca instead.

i think there are so much blahblablah ongoing in this shit. If a chinese group woul be really interested in acquiring AC Milan they would have already done it like the group that bought FC Inter. I think there are so much more behind all of this, Berlusconi is infamous for his shady manage of all his belongins and now at Milan there is a family war going on between him and his sons, he wants to keep his playtoy believing that they could become competitive again without drastically changing the managment way, instead his sons would like to get rid of the team that is becoming a money black hole. So he has looked for buyers in the last 3 years but he demand conditions that noone can approve (he value the AC Milan brand too much, he wants immediate transfer founds to be added and he wants to maintain some sort of control).

GOAL! MAN UTD 0-1 DORTMUND (Castro, 20)
Aubameyang's 35-yard free kick can only be parried back out into the danger area by Johnstone straight to Kagawa's feet and after an almighty goalmouth scramble, Castro found himself in the right place at the right time to just toe-poke the ball high into the net.
