Despite several calls should have been straight Reds. Expect suspensions tbh after the season ends. Which is pretty much the same issue we had in the last weeks during the CL/EL games. Refs being afraid of making decisive calls. Not enough reds, penalties, yellows for dives. Seems llike this is happening everywhere right now. Some way to strengthen the position of refs in the game is really damn needed, so we can again have calls with confidence.

i was sure there wouldn't be enough players still on the field, i mean i saw like 6 red cards or sth and not only the fluffs in the breaks but the tackles as well: From behind, straight in the foot, no chance whatsoever to reach the ball. I'm honestly still suprised nobody died ...

Derbies have become just a bunch of millionaires worrying about getting injured instead of having actual animosity against each other. And I'm not saying break his legs, but I want to see some passion and fight. Fucking referee's, let them get into actual contact with each other. edit: As a Chelsea fan watching my team being anemic the whole year last night was a great match.

Yanited vs Arsenal alone used to be huge physical battles, that was the Keane vs Viera era too which is early 00s There is a line though and i am too not saying should be leg breaking tackles, but last night summed it up and was borderline. Before Spurs knew they fucked it up 75th minute ish, they were fine. After the 2-2 there was some shocking tackles though, but before that (and minus the Dembele eye scratching and Vertonghan neck scratching) it was pretty fine in terms of tackling and the ref did the right choices in bookings. But when Spurs finished 9 yellows and Dier was still on the pitch it was abit silly, but no Chelsea fan cares as we blocked Spur's title bid ![]()

In general you are absolutely right, but the last 15min of yesterdays game were solely to inflict injuries and got nothing to do with playing football. Got totally out of hand and the ref did nothing. IMO the only way for him to intervene is to give out some freaking red cards. Perfect example of some hard but fair game was the first leg of Atleti vs Bayern when i remeber this correctly

If the Bundesliga wasn't competitive that season, which league was?

I stand by Leicester winning being the biggest upset of any major league in the past 50 years. I think Kaiserslautern (and Hellas Verona) are examples of teams that might have been considered equal to Leicester at the start of the season in terms of 'likely place to finish', the difference is that the jump from 15th place to 1st place has consistently been increasing over the past two decades, and that's why Leicester's win to me is the most unlikely. And thus also, the most joyful - because Leicester winning shows that indeed, it actually is possible to compete with the top dogs with much less money, as long as everything you can have any influence over is done just the right way.

I think the main difference is just that in over the past decade, the biggest leagues have seemed more and more lopsided and these types of underdog victories have seemed more and more like a thing of the past. These victories are also more likely to happen in a more competitive league anyway- it's much easier for an underdog team to get like, a 19-11-4 record than a 26-4-2- football does have so much luck involved, and injuries are so frequent, that the latter type of domination is only possible when a team is significantly better than almost all the competition and with a type of squad depth you never see in underdog teams. Nottingham Forest won promotion from the English 2 division, won the first division the next season, then won 2 back to back Champions Cup titles. All that in 4 years, yeah it was the late 70's but still....
