Tried to do something he is not. Like you said playing an extra midfielder is the only way to work the Real Madrid system due to Bale and Ronaldo will track back in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Time will tell i guess but Real Madrid fans will be happy now, they have a club legend managing them...how long before they start getting on his back though? Or worst the idiot in charge of the whole thing getting frustrated. Thats an unfair assessment, he made that squad what it was. You have to give him credit for that. He didnt just pop into an all conquering powerhouse. The Rijkjaard team was well on the decline. I dont recall him really breaking banks anywhere. He buys expensive players sure, but aside from Ibra I cant think of any real flops + Show Spoiler + (and Ibra wasnt much of a statistical flop except his bad run. He just didnt want to fit in the system, not be top dog and all that and that doesnt work for Pep hes super anal about that I am led to believe.) edit: wait, I just remembered that Chgrynski fellow, he was probably the worst pickup. He wont go there, but not because they wont spend the money.

I will only judge pep management from when he comes to the premier league anyway if he can put "his style" of possession based football to work in England and win titles with it then i will be impressed.

Pep did actually buy quite a few players tho. Pique and Alves like you said pande but also Keita, Mascherano and Villa. There's some flops as well.

And with Guardiola as a coach Arsenal gets more attractive for the players. But of course it's very unlikely. I don't think Arsenal wants to pay his 20+ million salary and why would they sack poor Wenger?

If he doesn't win anything substantial this year after it being such an easy league due to everyone playing like crap then he really has to look at himself. honestly wenger has a free pass since like forever, if you don't kick him after not winning anything for like 10+ years (ah didnt they win the league cup or sth like this last year), it would be kind of weird to kick him after they spend literally nothing this summer
