I.E. he's asked to do the same, but capable of less. I dunno if he's going to be the guy that the Browns need him to be going forward. then again, the defense in Cleveland is solid and if they can surround him with playmakers, he could be an impact player himself.

I don't think Colin Kaepernick is the right comparison. Johnny is quick, not fast. Today it didn't ever seem like he was close to busting out an explosive 35 yard run, much less threaten to do so on every other play like Kaep or even Newton. To me he seemed more like a tiny Ben Roethlisberger, where he'd scramble a bit to buy time for his receivers. I didn't see enough physical talent there to ever warrant putting a spy on him or worrying excessively about setting the edge on passing plays. If he makes it in this league it will be on intangibles and playmaking ability more than physical dominance. Who knows though, it's still so early in his career.

Yea, but then all the hype is gone. It's not like Manziel is way worse than Hoyer. With Manziel, you get every single fan in the state, without him, the Browns just wasted another season.

I think recent history strongly suggests that it is generally a bad idea to throw a rookie QB to the wolves. That said, Cleveland has a fairly decent team, so it won't be as bad of a situation as Gabbert having to start in Jacksonville.

Roethlisberger's biggest asset is his immense size, though he also can go through progressions and read defenses. What I've seen from Manziel is a first look, second look, panic progression, similar to what they have Kaepernick do...

What I've seen from Manziel is a first look, second look, panic progression, similar to what they have Kaepernick do... In fairness to Kaepernick, he seems to have finally developed the ability to go through his progressions properly by all accounts. He did it fairly well in the last preseason game against the Broncos. I drafted him for my fantasy team because I'm betting on him making huge improvements over last year. He has a legit receiving corp now that may be the best in the league. Compare that to last year when he had arguably the worst set of receivers until Crabtree came back. It also came out today that Kaepernick played through most of last season with a bone chip in his foot that he sustained week 2. Finally, I don't think that the Niners defense is going to be as dominant for much of this year as it was last year. Bowman and Aldon Smith are going to miss lots of games. The secondary (the corners in particular) is young and raw. All of this suggests to me that the Niners are going to give up more points this year, which means that the Niners are going to have to try to score more points. This means opening up the passing game. In short, everything is in place for Kaepernick to have a much improved year stats-wise. There won't be any excuses if he comes up short this time. I'm pretty sure that he's going to rise to the occasion.

What a quality player. Not sure where the whole hoopla is coming from anyway. They both suck.

If I were drafting between now and when we get official word at the end of the week, I'd grab him in the 9th round at the latest - perhaps earlier depending on the size of the league. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8282/josh-gordon
