York and Baalke had been fueding with him for the past 1-2 years, and leaking all sorts of shit to the media. The Tomsula hiring is stupid. If you were going to promote internally, go with Fangio, since he's at least called plays at an NFL level. Tomsula has never been a fucking coordinator here. He was for two years in NFL Europe, and had one year as a HC there. That's it, and he's almost 50. This was after jed York was bsing about wanting a teacher too lol Not only that, but his hiring is almost assuredly going to cost the Niners Fangio since he got passed over. He stated multiple times: if you don't hire me, hire an offensive coach. At this point, if the Niners don't win the division and win at least a game in the playoffs, it's a failure. TBH, anything less than the NFCCG is a failure. There will be no shortage of comparisons of Jed York to Al Davis if (when) the Tomsula project blows up in their faces. Also, apparently the Niners are cleaning out almost all of their coaching staff.

I think Denver just keeps Gase because they want Peyton back and that's the quickest route for that. I think if Peyton goes, it makes it a lot harder to keep those FAs there since they have no heir apparent

Glad to see we're starting off by addressing the real issues though!

Theoretically though, I guess it would look something like this? (I reckon Justin Smith will retire, also don't think Brooks will come back) Smith-Dorsey-Carradine-Lynch ---Borland---Willis---Bowman---

And yeah I don't like it because they slimmed Smith down specifically to play 3-4. Granted, they, like most 3-4s, are really hybrid fronts, and Smith does kind of suck ass in coverage. He's a stand up rusher sometimes and has his hand in the dirt too. It seems silly to confine him. I don't worry about Willis and Bowman. They're studs no matter what they play (I think each actually had some 4-3 experience in college actually, Willis at ILB and Bowman at OLB). The issue becomes the other players and hoping they make the switch. It seems like an unnecessary gamble to make for a team that is a year removed from the playoffs. That's something you do to a crappy team. I get that losing J Smith and McDonald creates major holes for their current scheme but damn

He failed pretty spectacularly in Denver, and only looks good when his offense is ran by Tom Brady, but he's garnished interest before and has shown that he wants a HC position. If Bill were closer to retirement he'd stick around but that doesn't appear to be happening in the near future. Perhaps in Atlanta, where Dimitroff is GM and Pioli is an assistant GM. Wouldn't surprise me to see them hire McDaniels. Pioli single-handedly ruined Kansas City, and I don't even understand why Atlanta would want him anywhere in their organization. But once you see that the current GM is a former Patriot, it makes a little bit more sense. People from the Patriots organization tend to stick together, and there's one thing that's true about almost all of them: they better thank Tom Brady for their job every night, cause without him they'd be way out of the NFL by now.

His contract is too big, and Lynch outplayed him this year. Maybe Brooks won't show up fat to camp next year. As for going 4-3, it probably fits the Niners personnel a bit better now, at least in theory. The Niners have been drafting and developing some big dudes to shit up the middle. I think Dial, in particular, is going to be very good. And having Bowman, Willis, and Borland as the three linebackers is pretty damned sweet. On January 16 2015 04:02 QuanticHawk wrote: also, to add the impressive downward spiral, the Niners canned Vic Fangio... after blocking a couple of requests for interviews this offseason lol Jesus fucking Christ. They just fired the best defensive coordinator in the league. The mileage that Fangio got out of that defensive roster this year was nothing short of amazing.

He's a liar too. "Football has always been a stepping stone for my education" when he said literally the opposite 2 years ago.

McDaniels is shit and nobody in NE actually likes him, he loses more games with his play calling than he wins. Good luck to any team that hires him, NE will be better without him. Pioli also improved that roster every year he was there as far as I can tell. The contract to Cassell was terrible and the HC didn't end up being right, but he made a pretty good rebuild and added a lot of talent to a pretty terrible team. I am not sure what more you could want from him. I love a lot of those players on SF, sad to hear how terrible things are being run.

That's a guy I'm gonna want to draft in a few years, a guy who sets up a presser just to say he's returning. Mature.
