Unfortunately I still see having a Thanksgiving game (or 3) once a season much more novel than a game EVERY Thursday.

After watching that I would love to see an NFL team pick up another rugby star and turn them into potential special teams all stars until they get more accustomed to the NFL. Especially a team who gets way behind a lot and already has to dial up crazy plays anyway. I wonder what kind of numbers ($$ wise) he is expecting to get? I guess the contract he walked away from was ~$1 million But he could fill a lot of roles as a 3rd stringer while probably being able to walk onto plenty of teams special teams units. All of which could get him a pretty decent contract (especially for those teams with UK games on their future schedules [I'm looking at you Jacksonville])

Well we are talking about the 2015 season so he could work with some other football (non-nfl) team until time and pick up plenty of basic football knowledge/skills he may be lacking. It's a different game, but there is no question the way he plays rugby should transition well. With the floor for his contract being ~50% of what he was offered for Rugby I say it's worth it for a team (especially the jags) to offer him whatever the difference is between the league minimum and the least he would sign for. Jacksonville would probably make more on merch sales in Europe than they do in the US if they did it and he had at least 1 big play early in the season.

Jacksonville could do a lot worse then sign him.

guy was a fucking beast in the domestic rugby league here in australia. i reckon he'd be best suited as a rush linebacker in a 3-4 defense or defensive end in a 4-3 - i don't think he has the skillset to play against the pass. edit: actually at 6'2, 220 - i think he's too much of a tweener unless he bulks up.

If he can learn to cover guys and has enough speed to not get blown by, he could also potentially be a decent strong safety. Although by the looks of it he would be better in run support than pass coverage. But either way, you guys are right he would probably have to prove himself by contributing to special teams first.

Then if everything pans out, you got yourself a movie 20 years later.
