Frank Lampard and David Villa to NYC First guys comment is amusing "I’m glad to see the league working so hard to dispel the international perception of MLS as a retirement home." But even so pretty impressive names. Even though I don't really like the MLS retirement home approach, I'm not going to lie. I would love to see some of these guys play live especially once Atlanta's team is started.

Frank Lampard was the reason I became a Chelsea fan. As an American living in the South, football wasn't something I was really exposed to so much until my dad brought out a Liverpool jersey he used to play in when he was stationed there (Army dads ftw). I played in school and started watching the game around 2007-08. Lampard's goal against Stoke cemented me as a Chelsea fan.. I don't make a lot of money, but if he's coming to the US to play I will definitely find a way to take a trip and see him. The goal (the video might be loud I'm not sure. headphone users beware?): .

In fact, according to a Dutch newspaper, he wants the following: Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Kevin Strootman and Jevgen Konoplyanka. Apparently he's also interested in Alexis Sanchez.

So he wants to spend like 200 - 250 million this year? Sounds legit ![]()

Qatar World Cup: '£3m payments to officials' corruption claim Fifa is facing fresh allegations of corruption over its controversial decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar. The Sunday Times has obtained millions of secret documents - emails, letters and bank transfers - which it alleges are proof that the disgraced Qatari football official Mohamed Bin Hammam made payments totalling US$5m (£3m) to football officials in return for their support for the Qatar bid. Qatar 2022 and Bin Hammam have always strenuously denied the former Fifa vice-president actively lobbied on their behalf in the run-up to the vote in December 2010. But, according to emails obtained by the Sunday Times and seen by the BBC, it is now clear that Bin Hammam, 65, was lobbying on his country's behalf at least a year before the decision. The documents also show how Bin Hammam was making payments directly to football officials in Africa to allegedly buy their support for Qatar in the contest. Qatar strongly denies any wrongdoing and insists that Bin Hammam never had any official role supporting the bid and always acted independently from the Qatar 2022 campaign. Hummels will be impossible. BVB didnt sell Lewandowski, they wont sell Hummels. Schweinsteiger could be likely, will depend on Schweinsteiger

Ideally every team's flag player should stay until his retirement but a)they are getting way too much to be sitting on the bench and b)they demand to play even when they are past it, so the coaches don't like them. But then again who cares, just keep 2-3 of your most iconic players if just for dressing room discipline and inspiration.

With Lamps gone as well thats another player less for that and also another English player who has been a true professional all his career disappeared. Not sure if he did ask for to much money as i believe he is still on 150,000 last season a week which i thought was silly. He said he wants to stay but he seems to ask for to much money in my opinion, if you want to stay surely at his age a sub 70,000 a week wage with bonuses at different levels of appearances is better than not playing for the club. But clearly he sees the New York offer as a nice retirement package which is fair enough, just a sad way to end it as we never get to say goodbye ![]() Thats another main thing, we knew Drogba was going so we celebrated with him in the open top tour boss and said goodbye, with Lamps we never knew if he staying or going ![]()
