The Catalan club believe he would be the perfect man to step into the shoes of Xavi, who has served as the fulcrum of the best Barcelona side of all time over the last five to ten years.

yep, definitely too german. If a player has la liga or epl experience that alone makes him 20million € more costly. Imagine Reus would've played his first great season with Southampton/Bilbao (random choice) instead of Gladbach. Do you think he would've been transferred for less than 30m? I don't.

LOL.... so much for Fabregas = Xavi's replacement. Guess he really might be moving on.

Fabregas is not close to as good as Xavi at what Xavi does anyway (or peak Xavi at least). Thiago Alcantara maybe could have been/be.

Ricky Lambert to Liverpool seems a bit fishy to me. I don't see why Liverpool would need Lambert if Sturridge and Suarez are staying. I guess maybe as a back up in case one gets injured but I can't imagine Lambert wanting to go from playing every game and scoring at Southampton to sitting on the bench at Liverpool. Just seems a little odd to me.

Liverpool have holes elsewhere to plug.

Portugal - Greece tonight, it will be a big test for both teams.
Portugal needs to test their offensive power and we get to see if we can counter like bosses.

We're without Ronaldo. Lets see what the rest of the team is capable of.

Will be a brilliant backup/cup player and Liverpool was his boyhood team, he's got his dream move. Think he will be brilliant for a couple of years to be honest.

David Villa in MLS damn seriously gotta find a team to follow in that league lol. So sick they getting all these older guys. Proven at Giggs playing "ok" at 40 proves that MLS signing 30-33 year olds isn't that bad...of course not the best but Chelsea signed Shevchenko at 30 and that was a big signing at the time.

Also those teams are crazy. Szczęsny wouldn't get in my reserve Chelsea squad let alone a premiership 11 :s wow. Cech beat him to golden gloves because he played less thus he should of got in over him?

Villa's stamina is still one of the greatest.

I can still remember he running like a crazy person in the CL final. So good seeing him in top form. Shame we sold him. he's still one hell of a striker. (Fucking dumb Zubizarreta).

Cesc Fabregas set to leave Barcelona and return to Premier League

Barcelona are willing to sell the Spain midfielder as he does not figure in their plans for next season.

It is understood that Fabregas has a £30million release clause written into his contract.

The 27-year-old is expected to interest a number of top Premier League teams, including his former club Arsenal.

I didn't know it was his boyhood team. I'm starting to see his attraction to the deal for him a bit more. I guess he'll probably get more games than one might think because Liverpool will be able to/need to rotate their players and will be playing a lot more games this year. So I guess i change my mind, it does make sense.

Not sure where to post it, here or in th WC forums:

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/01/sports/soccer/fixed-matches-cast-shadow-over-world-cup.html?_r=1

Looks like some games were fixed before the 2010 World Cup, including a game between USA and Australia.

New York City might be homeless but they sound like they are going to start out with some pretty good experience. Frank Lampard and David Villa to NYC

First guys comment is amusing "I’m glad to see the league working so hard to dispel the international perception of MLS as a retirement home."

But even so pretty impressive names.
