We bought Eto'o to do a "job" for 1 season i agree he is stupidly old, but he isn't like any of our strikers. Demba Ba is a big target man like Lambert/Carroll. Torres is an all round strong and fast striker. Eto'o is a guy who knows where the back of the net is and how to find a yard of space in the penalty area thanks to his Barcelona days. Three completely different strikers. Lambert vs Carroll is exactly the same except Carroll is far better than Lambert and on top of that even if you think they are the same level, Carroll is 7 years younger. The manager also said he had no room for an "Andy Carroll type player in his squad" or words to that extent. Thats why it is ridiculous business to pay 4million for him and sell Carroll last year. I don't think you have ever watched Lambert play before, have you.

They almost won the league last year so expectations are huge. Signings like these, which are somewhat cheap given the usual retarded numbers in the PL, are just for strengthening the width of the squad, nothing more. And the guy loves the club, so win win for both parties. You got Eto'o to be a 'bench warmer' last year when he was 32 when you've got a similar player in Ba as well. And really? A club like Chelsea with 500 million players on the loan sheet and you criticize Liverpool for making a purchase just for the width of the squad? Loan sheet ^^ I'm sure you mean payroll

Lambert was one of only four players to get both goals and assists into double digits this season. Andy Carroll has a vast untapped potential, that is true, but Lambert compared to Carroll is right now: *Way better at scoring and setting up chances for team mates *Way cheaper (will earn less than Big Andy) *More content with his position as number three in the pecking order Not to mention that they are not the same type of player at all. Lambert is a strong player, but he is much more capable along the ground than Andy, his passes have been sublime the last few years (the only years Ive watched him). Great player, comfortable in an attacking system. If Lambert can produce even half of what he has the last two seasons in Southampton he will be a hit, not to mention he loves the club and brings passion! Edit: a bit too harsh

Carroll when he arrived on the scene at Newcastle was as Zulu mentioned a god, he was the white Drogba. Hold the ball up, score from anywhere from outside to inside the box. Not saying Lambert hasn't done that he has, but Lambert is 32 now and will not be doing that for much longer, Carroll is 26 and coming off the back of some bad lay offs. Last season he played just 12 games (3 subs) and managed 2Goals 4Assists 51Shots which isn't bad considering his first start wasn't until 29th January away at Chelsea where they drew 0-0. He was thrown away by Liverpool as they said they couldn't fit him in and then they signed Lambert the exact same player but older. I just don't get that business, especially when there are other strikers to bring in, you would think they would of signed some kid instead.
