Bayern looks so scary in this 3 minute sequence. ManC looks like a 3th or 4th league team.
And the thing is that they played how many games in this style? 10? 15? And there are key players missing for most of the time like Martinez, Götze, Thiago or Badstuber.
It's already boring to me now...passing it around midfield while there is no pressure from City isn't an impressive feat imo. City will immediately react whenever the ball goes forward, which you can see the 2 times they actually do that. Bayern doesn't have the tika-taka skill of Barça, so going through the center won't work, so they rely on (short) crosses. I think a lot of their depth and speed is lost when they play this way. You can see at 2:30 in that video that there's a lot more space when they attack from the back instead of pressing first. And I'm not surprised teams are countering this by putting a few strong/big CB's at the back who kick the ball up the field and hope for a counterattack.
What impresses me the most at the moment with Bayern is not this 3 minute sequence, it is that Bayern is able to control the pace of a game like no other team in europe right now. If they want to control the ball and slow it down, they do it. If they want to speed it up they are able too.
And i think Phillip Lahm is the new favorite of "most underestimated" and "most underhyped" player of all time. This guy played CB for 10 years, gets shifted to defensive midfield do injuries and is instantly one of the best on this position. And he never got suspended because of yellow or red cards. never. As a defender. In 10+ years.

Since when are Thiago, Götze and ESPECIALLY badstuber key players for Bayern? O.O Bayern's defense has never looked better since Badstuber got injured. Sorry, but his injury is a blessing in disguise for Bayern.

It has great game mechanics and is totally unlike any game out there. Far better than any other sports game ever made (with the exception of its spiritual predecessor championship manager). Every other sport could do with a game exactly like it but unfortunately all the American sports are tied up by EA .
Pande if you get FM14 tell me what it's like. I am still on 2012 and having hours and hours of fun, I play it every lunch break so I rack up about 4 hours a week, with the occasional play on the train (my macbook loves it). It's so awesome to slow play a game like football manager.

The only issue i have with Football Manager is that boy oh boy does it take up alot of your time xD. I mean you play just the pre season fixtures (5/6games) and your looking at 2hours just disappear! It is madness xD Is great fun now they added online co op season so you and your mate can play the exact same game at the same time. Makes it much more social aspect to it, and well you can transfer players between each other which is cool!

Sunderland to appoint Gus Poyet as manager in the next 24hours

tikitaka and ball pocession are strategies that can degenerate to nonsense quickly. imo itd be better if Lahm, Schweini and Kroos bring the ball to the central line while everyone else gets set up. its stupid to pass to Robben early, cause he usually runs into a defender then passes the ball back and its a deadend situation. yes I know football better than Guardiola

I feel that NFL has huge potential when it comes to manager games just because of the way the game is played.

Thats just wrong. Badstuber was on his top level one of the best defensive backs with the ball on his foot which is more important these days then just defending.
And Thiago and Götze would play every important game in almost every club in europe. They are maybe not the most important players for Bayern right now but they are both insanely good when healty.

What I want more than anything is a a SC:BW Manager game in the style of FM. Taking control of 1 of the 12 PL teams and managing in PL and your players individual league matches? Fuck yeah that would be awesome. And yes I know about MyStarCraft Just imagine a much more polished/refined/deep version... so much potential there.
I can't wait to see the new tactics system in FM14 though. Might just try making my own sick tactic in this one instead of just using ones I found online.

I didnt' know about world basketball manager but the word world kind of scares me. Never heard of out of the park baseball is it like football manager? I guess my knowledge of the topic was limited. NFL does indeed seem to have the most potential out of all the sports because of how involved the managers are in the tactics.

Well that's just it really. It's arguing semantics, but I would say a key player to a club isn't someone who is sitting on the bench. Hell I'm with Sharkie on this one, I don't think you would even miss those players much unless the main team gets an Arsenal size injury list.

You made a key point here. People called it "boring" and "uneffective". But the point is: At that moment in the game, they didn't really want to be effective. They wanted to control the game and save stamina for the next games.
Bayern are able to speed up their game whenever they want and that is the scary part.

Yea I dont think people realise that running City to the ground and wearing them out was the goal there.
They can switch on at any point which is scary, its not one dimensional at all.
I disagree that it is uneffective aswell, forcing a team to gamble when they are behind will create space. If its all gung ho and both teams have effective positions it makes for an entertaining game sure but it also makes you just as vulnerable.
In previous years in that same sequence Robben would cut in try to beat someone make a stupid decision and that was it. Turn over. So whats better keeping the ball at a dead end or giving it away ?
Someone was talking about how they got stopped everytime they got in dangerous positions in that sequence. I mean what the fuck does that even mean ... ofcourse they got stopped your not supposed to score on every position, atleast I hope not.
That entire game City got rolled for 80 minutes and Bayern made the game flow at their pace. City did showsome spark at the end though to be fair.
