Lewis Hamilton now has a column on BBC website. Mark Webber had one last year, and was always an interesting read.
Lewis Hamilton makes his debut as a BBC Sport columnist
In the first of a new series of columns for BBC Sport, Lewis Hamilton discusses being a role model, wearing baggy trousers and why joining Mercedes gave him goosebumps...
Trust me, for the first 3 races, reliability is the main issue, Red Bull might "have" the best car, but who knows what it will do in the next 3 races in terms of reliability. This weekends race is a lottery for me due to reliability issues.
Also qualifying is pretty much nailed on to be a wet one, so who knows who will start at the front of the grid
Obviously things are unpredictable and tyres are an issue but Red Bull look insanely fast. 2011 fast. I only watched the first session but I feel there is a clear pecking order of Red Bull > Ferrari > Merc/Lotus > McLaren. If I was a betting man there is no way I could bet against RB after seeing that. Lets hope rain mixes it up for the race because a lights to flag win for Vettel would not bode well for the season.

Get to first place of course!
Well if they are waving the car behind you on, you'll just have to eat it it seems. Better to lose an extra place but still be on pace to pass than risk a time/pit penalty.
Q2+Q3 were just postponed to tomorrow due to the conditons. Not only is it the rain, but also because it's getting dark in Australia. Both Caterham and Marussia and Maldonado and Gutierrez are already out.
Oh Charlie, this fucking new idea that F1 drivers cant race in the wet is really annoying. If it is ridiculous like that race at the ring in 07 then fine, but every time it rains slightly heavy they call it off. People travel for hours to see that, stand around in rain all day and I feel sorry for them. F1 is not cricket! Vergne looked good didn't he. Shame he wasn't allowed the chance to fight for a front row spot.
Its not just the rain, because the session was about to be started at 17:00 local time, it was getting dark. Q1 eventually started at 17:30, so everything was pushed even further. Additionally with the spray, you couldn't see anything. Also, since Melbourne is not a permanent race track, their are few systems to get rid of the water. Standing water is extremly dangerous, if you aquaplain off at 300km/h with a car that is less than 2cm above the ground with a huge underbody - good look and hope that there won't be any near walls. So this is an huge risk, remember Spa '98 or Adelaide '91? Also, there was no session running, so to take a break didn't interrupt much. It's like qualifiyings in Japan 2004 and 2010, were it was postponed to sunday alltoghere.

Thats why we watch it: To see exciting crashes like the one from the polish guy in Canada couple years ago. The rest of formula 1 is boring as hell, because FIA isn't banning these RedBull Cheaters.

Well, I've you want to see drivers get hurt and killed, you should probably switch to watching US racing instead of F1.
