O right, since MLSE prepared him for the damage control interview on PTS he realizes the Maple Leafs are always his #1 priority
I don't know why you have your panties in a knot over the guy.
its fine, i'm smart enough to spot a total position reversal interview when i hear it. Lewieke is a savvy veteran of media control and knows how to hide it well....
he fooled many people
I'm leaving for Ottawa at noon.
... um no? rofl. Dude doesn't have to say what's on his plate in public bud. We know what he's up to and it's no secret when it comes to what MLSE wants out of him. Everyone working beneath him is going to look after the Leafs just fine.
you'll never again hear him say "the leafs are not my #1 priority"

JimmyJRaynor has a degree in position reversal interviews from Waterloo and how many Universities can claim to have an entire department of Position Reversal Interviews? Not many!

Waterloo is known for its hard science research not PR stuff.
lemme know when Lewieke repeats "The Leafs are not my #1 priority".
Do you hear that? It's the sound of the Blues blowing another third period lead to the Kings to lose. The team is not mentally tough enough to win this series.
Ok Jim let me put this another way. Do you really think business for the hockey team would suffer if the guy doesn't put more weight on the team? I don't think so. Goes back to what I said before. The other departments like FC, Raptors, possible NFL team needs to pick up the slack. Think of the revenue a NFL team would bring even then chances of that happening are slim because we know what happened when he tried before.

The difference in profit between the Leafs winning the Cup and the Leafs finishing in 12th is enough to make them the #1 priority.
Look at the incredible increase in revenue the Blue Jays experienced. The Leafs would dwarf that.
The "hero property" sponsorship rub Bell and Rogers would get is well known by the marketing wizards at MLSE. This is an added value on top of the pure profit.
THe primary reason for MLSE's increase in value under the Teacher's Pension Fund was the Leafs. Their ticket prices rose the most... the driver of all luxury box revenue is the leafs.
Its called "Maple Leaf Square" not "Raptors Square" not "TFC Square" not "Buffalo Bills Square".
As far as potential NFL team... have u been to an NFL game in TO? its boring, terrible and the tickets are dirt cheap. The Buffalo players constantly criticize the agreement between Buffalo and TO and i don't blame them one bit.

You don't know what you're talking about fella. Sorry but the Leafs have the most ridiculous fan base that the concessions they make (now, they're making a lot more with food and beverages at the MLS) is laughable. They still rake in stupid money no matter and people will still line-up no matter what. You're just saying the same crap over and over again. It's really no different then your blurb about changing the ice surface. Sure, Paul Maurice would like to see it as well after coaching in the KHL but it's not going to happen. lol -.-
I already said my spiel about the NFL in Toronto. No dice.

No team can stay dominant for more than a couple years (unless your league is as poorly structured as most soccer leagues). I think it makes it more fun to watch the Wings now. Makes for closer and more intense games when they're the underdogs. :D
I dont like it because the quality of the on ice product has gone down. And I dont like it because Holland knew this was coming 3 years ago yet chose to re-sign a bunch of old guys like Samuelson and Bertuzi or unskilled guys like Erickson and Quincey. I wouldnt even mind the fact that Erickson doesnt use his huge size or isnt great offensively if he would stop coughing up the puck in his own zone but he does. And he has an NTC because...I guess Holland thought him being Swedish automatically elevates his game.
The only thing that can be said about the Wings is, at least as they entered their twilight/rebuild period, which will last another 3-4 years, they look competitive. They could be doing the Canucks and have a total implosion.
yeah i agree. The wings are where they are now because they've taken a bandaid approach of signing less than quality players to address problems like when studs like Lidstrom and Rafalski left, or when players like Franzen, Filpulla, Bert, etc stop producing the way they were a few years priopr
granted, if their draft picks were a bit more ahead of schedule it wouldnt be as big of an issue, and they may very well be ok in a two oir three years if dues like dekeyeser, nyquist, tartar, etc pan out. it just seems that right now, you have two studs in dats and Z, and a mish mosh of older dudes and underperfomring players. at least howard seems like a legit top 15 goalie for the foreseable future
on the flip side, if those dudes dont pan out in the next couple of years, detroit could be in the very shitty position of being not dog shit enough for a total rebuild, but not good enough to be anyting other than a bubble team due to Dats, Z and Howard. though unlike tornoto, which was in hockey purgatory forever, detroit actually does have the ability to attract good free agents because they have a recent history of being a well run franchise. so really, they could go either way going forward.

and no revenue... what a disaster it has been.
ask any one who increased their spending on the BLue Jays during the dominant era what they'd rather be doing... they'd all rather be spending their money on the Leafs.
The monumental growth in Maple Leafs' revenue coincided with Harold Ballard's death and their rise to being a really good team during the 90s instead of the 20th best team in a 21 team league.
if MLSE wants to increase its own profits.. and the profits of its media providers ( bell and rogers ) then the Maple Leafs need to become a winning team.

I was there bucko and no shit they will increase profit from hosting more playoff games. I think you missed the part where I spoke about corporate and the nonsensical fan base that will buy anything. So no, they don't necessarily need to win anything and they'll still be the cash cow. Evidence? Look at the last 40 years and I'm not even going to bother going into the previous ownership/circus. No thank you and I know you already heard me say what Rogers and Bell want out of this and it's not just gossip when you have people in on the actual deal. Keep typing away though.
Back to hockey,
Letang, Subban, and Suter are up for the Norris. *shrug*
Guessing its going to be Subban. East Coast big market team that was expected to suck but up to the playoffs did great. Letang is playing on a stacked team with a porous defense, which is totally not MAF's fault because...statistics!, and Suter plays on a team that barley made the playoffs, in a small market on the West coast.
I think Suter has no chance. Letang, maybe. But yeah, it's kind of hard to overlook the fact that he's playing on preseason favorite vs a guy who dragged a non playoff team to the playoffs. Plus, PK's got more goals, which seems to usually be held higher than overall points for defensemen. also i dont care to look it up but i believe pk general plays pk time too. if not, still, it's really kind of hard to argue for letang over pk
