watching the canucks and their fanbase implode every spring has been an annual tradition of mine for many years. i dont know why its so much more satisfying seeing them go nuts vs anyone else. if toronto were to make this playoff thing into a regular occourance, they might replace them. montreal was looking like theyd be fun after the riots a few years back

I don't have the same ire for the Leafs or Habs that I do for the Canucks, but that's at least partially because those are Eastern Conference teams. However, I find it hard to believe that either the Leafs or Habs play as dirty as the Canucks do. I think that I have to rank the Canucks as being even dirtier than the Ducks now.

So Calder nominees were announced as Huberdeau, Gallagher, and Saad. I can accept these being the the nominees, but feel Brodin and maybe Yakupov could have been nominated as well. What do you guys think?

Not impressed with the final nominations either. I'd put my money on Gallagher because he's always a threat on the ice for a kid his size.

Huberdeau's offense was fairly exceptional with worse linemates. I would have put in Brodin or Hamilton instead of Saad.

ive seen some of yak and huberdeau but ive not seen any of saad at all.

that is true about huberdeau though. saad, you'd think he'd get the same knock on him that yak did.

Saad played outstanding and definitely deserves the nomination. He earned his spot on the Hawks top line and thats saying a lot with how stacked that team is on forwards and he made a ton of plays this year with his amazing work ethic on every shift. He was a huge impact on the Hawks all season and definitely has a great career ahead of him

Only saw Saad a couple games this year and in the 3 playoff games. He looks like he made a pretty big step up from last year. I wasn't sure if him on the top line was similar to the Flyers with Tye McGinn or Lightning with Steve Downie type thing where he fits a role the top line needs. He does seem to make a number of fairly intelligent plays.

Where is Galchynuk and Conacher?

And I agree about the Canuck forum things, its hilarious. I personally think its because of a combination of their manic-depressive perspectives -- Canucks string together some victories and "plan the parade route, Kesler, Luongo, and the Sedins are the best!" and then lose "FUCK THE SEDINDS I HATE THE CANUCKS" and the fact that Canuck fans are the only ones who burn down their city whenever they make the final.

90s Bulls fans almost burned down Chicago after we WON that 6th NBA Finals. Fans do strange things man. Canucks fans are probably the strangest though. Theyre loyalty is like the one friend thats either there when you need him or hes throwing you under the bus when you get caught

I would have expected at least a nomination for Yakupov, given that he won the rookie scoring title while playing for a shitty team that didn't score many goals. Still, I suppose I wasn't entirely optimistic given that he played all of his games this shortened-season in the Western Conference and it's doubtful that anyone doing the voting actually saw any of said games.

Strange not to see Conacher nominated as well.

edit: Also thought Brodin was probably the best rookie this year - shows what I know!
