Not to say it wasn't a good contract - it was. GMs get constantly burned by rewarding long-term contracts to players based off of a single season. And if they have to pay more in the long run, well, it means they have a good player worth paying for anyways so it's a win-win. Good for Subban! | ||

But I would like to see some actual statistics behind player performance in a contract year vs a post-big contract. I honestly feel like in contract year everyone finds an extra gear, but that could just be my own bias looking for that. We could say that the big 3 in Tampa, after they all got their big contracts only St. Louis kept up his level of play while the other two degenerated pretty significantly per-dollar they received. | ||

also, that patented Brad Stuart own goal, enjoy that Shark fans. It cost the Wings a Stanley Cup, it might cost you a playoff series (probably not this one though) | ||

There were a lot of things that went wrong for the Wings in that 09 series heh. Plus its not like the Pens didn't play well and deserve it (they won game 7 on the road after all). | ||
