I think the volitility stems more from the fact that deflections, pinball goals and kinda lucky goals like that are a normal part of the game that people try for a lot. You can be a spectacular goalie, but if a dude gets a piece of that thing and redirects accurately it in 10 feet in front of you, you are pretty boned. also I agree. Major difference in coaching 19-20 year olds and professionals who are on guaranteed contracts that can stretch as far as 10 years!! I still think an AHL coach can have success in the NHL, but that transition (either way probably) definitely isnt easy. Look at other sports like college football to NFL, etc also I do not believe that Slats thing til he is actually gone. His health and age have fueled similar rumors the last few years

On one hand, I think Sutter deserves it because his arrival took a scrub team of heartless losers and turned it into a barely squeek into playoffs team of heartless losers who had to ride their goalie onto the IR just to make it. On the other hand, now Montreal is going to have to pay him a shit ton of money. And all for half a season of games. Well. the advanced stats say Subban is indeed elite, and it's not just this season. Having a goal-scoring defenseman who can also play against the opposition's top line is about as rare a commodity as any, I'm sure Montreal will be kind of pissed that they didn't just offer him the years though.

For instance, the offense got hot in the playoffs much more so than Quick. Quick's amazing season (look at his save percentage and GAA, including shut outs and games lost 0-1) is what got the fumbling, bumbling (as you say) Kings into the play offs in the first place. But Quick didn't score all those goals, and his GAA was higher in the post than in the regular.

If he lets the Sedins do their thing and then focuses on everyone else, it might work. Torts would probably work wonderfully with everyone but the sedins imo. Can you imagine Kessler or Burrows in top 6 rolls for Torts?? They'd be all over the ice. That D is more than good enough to support Schneider with help from the forwards blocking more. on the forecheck, theyve got a bunch of physical players who have skill. outside of the sedins, it is like a torts wet dream.

The impact of a punch is much more dispersed than a puck. So while the mouth protector helps, it can only do so much. You can also get teeth knocked out due to collision with the boards and getting whacked with sticks. It's just a sport that asks you to lose a few teeth at some point.

They do wear mouth guards man lmao. A puck to the face is still a puck to the god damn face (how's the jaw Crosby?) and that's the least of your concerns when you have to avoid arrant sticks plus the fights. All the greats eventually lose a few teeth in the process of their careers. Visors won't change that. That's hockey!

but yeah stuff like a slapshot to the face or a hard enough high stick is still gonna break teeth also yeah that is entirely true about Kessler hahah. But overall, I think if there is a team that could benefit from Torts it would be vancouver. If not, it would be fun having new thing to make of Vancouver for, like when Messier went there and eveyrone hated him ahhaah
