hockey is way too volatile to bet on. No one predicted the boston sweep.

No one predicted the boston sweep. Can't help myself, made too much money betting against the Leafs all these years ^^ lol. I've made quite a bit in hockey pools so I cannot complain. Pengs versus the B's was a nightmare though.

"Marc-Andre Fleury, I'm not sure the definition of 'franchise goalie,' (but) he's our No. 1 goalie," Bylsma said two days after the Boston Bruins completed a stunning sweep of the Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals. "He's a No. 1 goalie for this franchise and he will be going forward. Cant tell if Bylsma is just accepting that his GM doesnt want to buyout Fluery or what but considering the fact that without Vokoun they would have been done in the first round, the odds of the Pens being a threat to any legitimate teams in the East are lessening.

Seriously though, it's not that MAF is *bad* per se, (well, I guess he was pretty damn brutal this year) but he looks ridiculously bad considering how much he hampers the Penguins' true potential.

2 teams I dislike in the finals, but both very very good. I think the Bruins will take it in... let's say 6.

I think the Bruins will take it in... let's say 6. Turning point for the B's is always when they make a comeback like they did, which is funny because it's usually the Leafs when that happens. lol That was their turning point this playoffs. All I said prior was the Bruins would have a tough time if their scoring went dry because they tend to come in spurts and if the Penguins keep them in their own zone. Neither of those happened. Chicago will be an awfully good test and let's see if they can continue to plug along. For fun's sake, I'll take Chicago in 6. On June 11 2013 03:46 Orcasgt24 wrote: Yep. Dallas Eakins. I'd be a little hesitant myself knowing that I was the 5th coach in 6 years making my debut in the league as a coach, but what he did with the Marlies is undeniable. He did a lot of good and managed to adapt his style well. He definitely has potential to be a great coach in the NHL. I don't know how he's going to get the Loilers to play D though. It was only a matter of time before he got a NHL job though and Craig was worried someone else would lock him up, so he did pull the trigger quick.

But why would he take a job here as the 5th coach in 6 years is a mystery low expectations + a bunch youth to teach instead of grizzled millionaires actually makes sense if you are an AHL coach or whatever junior league he coaches in (OHL maybe, wherever the Marlies are). But I agree in general, if Oilers have made one thing clear is that the owner will tolerate incompetence in the front office which will inevitably trickle down into mismanagement of assets. At best I could see Oilers try to imitate Phoenix and play a stifling defense and hope that is good enough for the 8th spot in the playoffs. Of course that style will also ruin all their supposed super star first over all picks but the alternative is ruining those kids in other ways as they try too hard to win, and either get injured or learn terrible habits that make them useless to a real contender when they finally get the hell out of town.

Oh come on now. The Marlies are the AHL affiliate of the Leafs. Half the roster of the Marlies made it to the NHL in the last two seasons Dallas coached including the overhaul of Ron Wilson. Everyone has been praising this guy as a great hockey coach. On paper it makes a lot of sense. People are just questioning the fact that Craig didn't really look around long enough and he wanted to make sure no one else got Dallas. I knew he wasn't going to stay around these parts for long when we picked up Randy. He sort of deserved intern coach of the Leafs at least, but Randy is Burkie's guy and we all know how that works out. Just like Craig MacTavish and Kevin Lowe go back. The old boys club always repeats itself. You stick to the guys you know and are loyal to you.

The old boys club always repeats itself. You stick to the guys you know and are loyal to you. I didnt say anything negative about him, just that as an AHL coach its easier to step in and coach a team full of 19-20 year olds than it would be a team of millionaires who are older because they could tune you out easier. As to the praise, people praised Buchard too. He did great his first year in Tampa and thats it because you cant fight against a terrible GM as a coach. But yes, the Oilers are the ultimate good old boys club, which is why they are a bottom feeder team. As long as Katz is more interested than hanging out with 80s heroes than building a winner so it shall be.
