Except this year they got swept by a team that lost in the 2nd round, which is about as irrelevant as you can get.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, your opinion man

Doesn't matter man. In the end we still lost. Don't pull the Vancouver card.

No, there's a difference between the Toronto card and Vancouver card. People wrote the Leafs off saying we would be swept easily and that we didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs. A lot of it being because it was Toronto. Vancouver always enters as favourites, fails, and then makes piss poor excuses for their bad play. We actually went way above expectations.

I mean we only what? MAnaged to take the Bruins--same team that raped the Rags and swept the powerhouse Pens--to game 7, being down 3-1 in the series and up 4-1 with 10 minutes to go in the final game.

Considering that we scored 18 goals and a stacked, powerouse Pitts only 2 against Boston, speaks wonder for the effort our team gave and I WILL rub it in because of the shit Toronto gets from everyone else in the league year in, year out.

Am I saying we would have won the SC if x,y,z occurred? No. But this time we deserve a ton of credit where its due.

I think when he says "Dont pull a Vancouver" he means the Canucks fans habbits of saying "we lost in the playoffs only to eventual SC champions" referring of course to Chicago, LA and Boston.

You got it on the money.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as rude, I was kinda semi-drunk posting last night :3

I actually initially thought that's what you may have been getting at and I wrote out a blip about it but changed it to the x,y,z bit because nowhere did I ever mention that the Leafs would have won the ECF and then the SC if we had beaten Boston. Canuck fans always concoct these alternate realities of 'what ifs', and maybe for legitimate reasons, but we know better here in Toronto... that and our team is usually never projected to win more than 2 games ever.

But if the "Vancouver card" entails finding condolence in that when they do fuck up, it's always at the hands of the eventual SC champs time and time again, I can sympathize with that. But that's not what makes it insulting to be categorized with Canuck fans

lol and I love how we're always chirping at Canuck fans as if they're some bottom-feeding, basement-dwelling fan base

Maybe run-ins with fans out west strengthens the case for this but we're just jealous here in the East, guys Although those riots a couple years back didn't help...

I think most of us Canucks fans are indifferent at this point to all the chirping because the chirps haven't changed in years Also I think most of us had extremely low expectations heading to the play-offs already, the sweep was actually a positive thing for many of us because now we can clean house. I don't really mind the sweep by the Sharks anyways because their fans are pretty respectable But seriously this year for worst finals ever

My hatred stems back from the 94 finals, and it isn't rational at all, which makes it even more awesome

also, I agree with what emzeeshady said. That being said, the Leafs still did better than expected, even if I think their a improving team that benefitted from having a shortened season. Fans should have reason to be encouraged. There's some good pieces, even if I think Carlyle could have done better, and they hung in there vs a much better opponent

I just don't think it should be used as a comparison against how the leafs stack up as a team vs other clubs. Boston looked like shit in the first round compared to how they dominated the Rangers and Pitt. NY and Pitt also played horribly, and their coaches were bad too. I do think Toronto played wayyyy better than either of those two

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that having a 4th coach in 5 years is a worse idea then getting a second president of hockey operations in the same time frame.

This season is not Ralph Kreugers fault. Unless your last name is Hall, Eberle and Gagner you under preformed by a huge margin Oiler boys. RNH was terrible all year. I hope he spends the off season doing nothing but one timing shots from the slot and getting bag skated every time he misses. Yakupov took 25 games off and still managed to win the rookie scoring race (ok thats coaches fault). Hemsky was "OK". The rest were bad.
In Hearthstone we pray to RNGesus. When Yogg-Saron hits the field, RNGod gets to work

Meh, it was only one round and if anything the Leafs will yet again have to prove themselves next year. Going be an interesting off-season because I see a lot of changes being made to both the Marlies and Leafs once again.

Ya, full season, it will be interesting to see if the Leafs can sustain. Especially with the Red Wings showing up in the East.
