@Gotunk...Some motivation to tell your legs to shut up when you're pushing through those last sets.
"If you guys are really wondering if you are 'burning out mentally' take a day off and go to a hospital. Go to the cancer wing and look at a 4 year old, who won't ever see their teenage years, probably won't ever see their next birthday. Go and see someone who is mentally or physically retarded. Or see when a soldier who just came back from the war who doesn't have a leg anymore. Stare that guy down, look him right in the eyes, and tell him, as you stand there on 2 capable legs, that you are 'burned out'. That you don't want to use them. See if that doesn't kill him right there. Because he'd do anything to have that opportunity". -Greg Plitt

If it was with ease your 1RM may be closer to 190 rather than 180. Also, you're brave to invite criticism of technique from a 1rm! My form always goes to shit on a 1rm deadlift. Haha yeah, I'm not really inviting criticism, more inviting pointing and laughing since my 1RM technique will almost certainly be shit. Maybe "with ease" was overstating it a bit since I was aiming for 5 reps and I've only ever done 4 (where I stop because of deteriorating technique). It was easy in the sense that the bar moved from the floor when I expected it to and I never got close to spitting blood or passing out, but at the same time my legs were shaking from the first rep so easy is probably not the right word... I do feel like I can do it though. When my 3RM was 155kg I could do 1RM on 165kg so this is a similar jump. Also, I'm planning to eat like a beast until Friday to make sure this lift goes up :D
The reason why I said it is because sometimes I use a formula which I've always found surprisingly accurate. It works for weights above about 80% of 1rm:
(weight x reps x 0.033333) + weight = estimated 1rm
Lots of people on 5/3/1 use this, and I originally found it in the 5/3/1 book. It's also good to change the subject to work out how many reps you should be able to do at a given weight. I like it.

Some nice progress man! u'll make 180 ez as a famous bodybuilder once said "it ain't nothing but an insignificant groundnut".
Form has been known to detoriate when you do 1RM attempts, I wouldnt worry about it

You'd have an amazing V shape if you lost your love handles.

yesterday workout:
Front Squat: 60kg, 80kg, 90kg, 110kg, 120kg, 130kg 95kg, 100kg, 105kg, 110kg, 115kg, 125kg x 3 70kg x 2 x 5
I was so tired after this, and then I remembered what decaf posted, so, I decided to deadlift.
Deadlift 60kg x 10 100kg x 5 120kg x 5 155kg x 5

Well, I'm hitting the old downside of weightlifting again. Finding clothes that fit.
Unfortunately fashion at the moment still seems to dictate that shops sell pretty skinny trousers. I need some clothes, and all the autumn stuff is just coming out and it all either doesn't fit my legs properly or it just makes me look really fat.
A friend from back home in Buckinghamshire (rowing country) told me about a shop that aimed at rowers and most of the stuff fits bigger legs. It's probably what I'm going to have to do. Looks like it's another year of wearing chinos then.
Seems like the only other options are shorts, or trackies (no).

Daigomi, are you on 5/3/1 atm? I'm going for 165kgx5 on deadlifts next tuesday (birthday tomorrow yay). If I make 165x5 I wouldn't mind going for 180 the cycle after, which'd be in 5 weeks.
@Deadeight: Shorts are awesome, nothing else shows off your quads properly.

Ok workout, all things considered: Squat 1x3 75, 95, 110, 130, 1x2 150, 1x1 150 - I might have been able to get a triple with the 150, but some random guy walked over behind and was about to touch the bar just as I was getting up from the second rep, which made me yell at him and snap out of focus. BP - 1x5 45, 55, 65, 75, 2x2 90kg - I have to bench in the cage, which is super uncomfortable due to how it's built. I basically have two choices: either I have someone hand me the bar, which is usually terrible, or I take it out by myself, which means I need to be careful not to hit the hooks on the way up. Chin ups - 3x3 35kg Dips - 3x5 30kg - had to experiment a bit with the grip width.

This is not the first I read someone hating on a guy handing them the bar. Are people at US gyms retarded or smth? I mean, I know I can always ask some random dude to hand me the bar on sub maximal lifts, its not that hard.
Edit: it seems u are not from the US lol. Point still valid, I always wonder the same lol

Wow catch I'm liking the cut, looking sweet!!! Insane legs, dat legs even xD. Although it would be awesome to get your upper body looking the same as your legs!!
Thanks man. That is one of the reasons I stopped cutting lol
You're looking great Catch. Berkham recommends first cutting to a lean bodyweight and then just working on strength/recomp, and that seems to be what you've done now. If you can just maintain your current bodyweight while increasing all your lifts by 20% the difference will be massive.
Yeah, I don't know if I cut to low enough weight :\ but I am on a recomp right now. Going for way more than 20% increase. I agree completely though, thanks :D
catch, are you sucking in your stomach in the after photo? because if you aren't that's just holy shit beastly. awesome cut.
broke my dl plateau of 120kg!! pulled 125x6 today. must be that creatine
Thanks man. I am not, so that's awesome :D
Also, no to the creatine, you are just a boss.

I've literally only had 1-2 people hand me the bar properly in the 3ish years I've been in the gym. The rest were either too weak to do it properly, didn't know how to do it well (too slow or too fast to let go of the bar) or too eager to "help me" when they thought I wasn't making the rep.

i see some people benching from the floor, lying flat on the floor under a cage. idk how that works. i think they just dont like asking people for help. its seldom perfect, and you have the occasional jackass who gets pissy because you told him not to do something, god forbid, but it always beats unracking by yourself imo

Caveman logic. "We've worshipped the mammoth-god for a long time and no disasters have befallen us. Obviously it's working". Correlation does not imply causation, page one of common sense.
I have no problem with experience, if you've had fifty clients do the same thing with the same results I call that a significant data point. But it's not "evidence".

Thanks everyone who responded to my post
