I've tried both and I'm not sure what's better.
What worked best for me was negative pull-ups. Just start with like 3 sets of 5 negatives and try to lower yourself as slow as possible. If you have any spot in or around the house where you can do pull-ups it also helps to just do a few negatives whenever you walk by.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm curious about your recommendation specifically, Logros. Do I have to worry about overtraining if I do negative pull-ups ever couple hours in my free time? I'd love to them as often as possible if it would give me the best results.
Yeah as Eshlow said just build it up. And if you are going to do it multiple times during the day just do 1 set each time or it's probably gonna be too much. But this worked great for me as I couldn't do a single pull-up a while ago and the assisted machine and pulldowns weren't really getting me anywhere. Within a few weeks I could suddenly do 2-3 normal pull-ups already.
Rock the fuck on TL. I know I posted a couple pages ago but man this subforum is gonna be sweet. really motivating myself to change my lifestyle. TL is the best thing EVAR.
I did a work out today though, I went up 2.5 kg in Overhead press to 30kg which went good. Again only did 50kg squats though, and did not go deep at all. It felt derp as fuck. And I did 35kg hang power cleans (might have been able to go higher idk.) Which is same as I did the first time I did them, but failed the last time I did them.
Posted about this in the question thread but i'll post here too since I would love some insight on what this might come from. Started starting strength like 2 weeks ago, and the last 2 work outs my knees have just been feeling really weak. (They feel this way outside of work outs too.) They sort of just collapse more though, feel more unstable. Like if i stand still, and let my legs 'relax' sort of, they will just .. collapse. (Which sounds a bit more dramatic than it is, but its the best way I can explain it.) and I feel pretty uncomfortable\do not have much control with my squats. Also today I started very slightly hurting\feel very tight in my left upper inner thigh muscle thing.
Today (ill convert to kg since that seems to be what everyone else uses)
Squats 52kg Press 38kg deadlifts 61kg
lol geez all the numbers look so low now. After my set of squats I decided to test myself so upped the weight to 65kg for 5 reps. It actually wasn't bad at all and makes me think next time i workout I should just jump up to that as my normal weight. Still plan on having a friend record me but our schedules are a lil off atm.
sooo I kinda still wonder if I should be jumping around with the weights as much as I am(Instead of starting and adding 5lbs slowly like suggested). I mean technically this is only my 3rd or 4th workout on the SL program. And he def only wanted to start at the bar. But it seemed like his reasoning was more you don't want to get sore and not come back and he wants to start a habit of going to the gym.
I watched this earlier today. During my workout, I proceeded to destroy my previous 1rm of 80kg by doing a triple of it. Then did singles at 85 and smoked 90. ty klokov

How about a motivation/inspiration thread on this forum? The idea being: if you're looking to get convinced to start going to the gym, just to get pumped up for a workout, or look at some inspirational/thoughtful stuff, you'd go and check it out. Would be akin to the SFW Pics thread, everyone would just post motivational pics videos etc. I'm thinking stuff like (some of my favourites): + Show Spoiler +
