Unfortunately working with my schedule could potentially be very difficult. Also the last time I played d&d was 2nd edition so I'd need a serious crash course. Is THACO still around?

Thank god it is gone. | ||

Also, when are you coming back anyway?

People mentioned yoga as a good core/cardio workout, but the most important aspect of it for me is the meditation. And I'll speak from my perspective, cuz I do believe there are many ways to meditate successfully. It's much different than spending time inside your head and analyzing your thoughts, actions, and behavior. It's, in fact, entirely the opposite. It's about removing yourself from your environment and thoughts entirely - literally centering your focus on nothingness. So to say that you're too left brain oriented (heh) for that kind of activity is very strange for me - it's an activity that centers around getting away from your brain. Yoga incorporates this meditation focus while also working your body for flexibility and strength. my left brain orientation was a light provocative jab at mordek but it seems to have missed, don't worry about it I don't want to get away from my brain, I really like it here. I'll have time to do that when I'm dead. :p That being said I do respect meditation and if I remember correctly it has been demonstrated to have a positive effect on mental health in certain cases, so can't say much against it. My problem with orientalism is that in general it reeks of bullshit even though modern yoga may have been shown to be a fine workout. I don't really care about distorting other people's cultures THAT much.

As for yoga being bullshit, there's actually a pretty easy way to find legit yoga classes. When you first check one out ask the instructor where they learned it. If they didn't physically go to India to get certified, go somewhere else. That approach isn't foolproof but it will cut out a lot of the bullshit really quickly. @Soniv How much of your classes are meditation? I'd guess that a yoga class that puts a big emphasis on meditation and doesn't just do it as a 2 minute cooldown after exercising is probably pretty good. @THS I get back to Thailand the day before the World's finals. As for when I'm back in USA, its complicated. The original plan had me back for Christmas, but that's since been amended to have me back in late Feb/early March, and there's discussions going on about me staying even longer than that. However, there's an unresolved and significant but not unsolveable visa problem that I have to take care of when I get back to Thailand. I've been told its a very solveable problem but on the off chance that things go south I may end up home for Christmas. BTW. I suggested to my friends that we have a giant Halloween party at our house. I said I'd cook for everyone. They all thought this was a great idea. Now I get to watch worlds in the kitchen while I'm cooking AND everybody will think I'm such a cool guy for hosting the party. BEST PLAN EVER

Meditation is something I've gotten into and do on my own. It was something I started back in college. Yoga is just a great compliment to meditation. For the class, it's like a 1.5 hour work out with 15 minutes at the end for still meditation. But for yoga, there's a big emphasis on keeping focus on your breath as you move through the work out, so it's a form of meditation itself.

Depending on what army I bring and play against, I may do a 40k bat rep of tomorrow's game with pictures. Now, to use my nicely painted Necrons or Chaos that I rarely get to take out?

I usually spend time when wrestling is on by busting the balls of my friend by rooting for the wrestler he likes the least in the match. Right now I'm a big faux fan of Cena and Roman Reigns. I'd be down for a campaign, and I'm open to new rulesets, but I don't know enough about non-D&D/Pathfinder to say yay or nay on anything.

Tai Chi, Qi Gong and other things are cool alternatives as well (and also more technically oriental). Personally, I just put on some chill music, sit down on my bed and close my eyes for half an hour and try to clear my mind. That's my version of meditation. Helps me sleep better and I think my focus at work is a bit better. It's a much better alternative than lying in bed with insomnia.

Depends on your definition I guess. If you use a strict classical definition Egypt and Syria are oriental. This is why its a bad term that people shouldn't use lol.

I tried my hand (err) at "Want you gone" from Portal 2 since despite the simplistic instrumental, Ellen McLain's singing is beautiful (and I found aworking karaoke, wee~ that'll give people a change from M. Jackson or Queen from me). After a dozen tries... yeah, there's a reason she's an opera singer.
