HSC and TSL always make me wonder why other esport orgs are not more imaginative in their downtime music rather than the usual "ambiance" music, even if once in a while a certain tune doesn't please everyone, it's just so fun to have some variety and personality to the broadcast.

 Rooting for our German represtensives!
Lambo did well, Heromarine should also do well. But I'm sort of cheering for Skillous to advance. Showtime should advance too.
That picture is awesome (Heromarine picture of course)

It was crazy see'ing this, without noticing how the years have passed.

Skillous looking pretty good recently.

Skillous omg wp even though I think Solar should have won this game it was more Solar throwing then Skillous winning

I'm happy I stayed long enough to see that Battlecruiser teleport.

rly nice 2nd map between HeroMarine and trigger - long, non stop action, featuring some juicy disruptor shots.

Interesting twist! $2000 side contest for Best Game, Best Cheese, Best Underdog

People will probably vote for a crazier game like the Heromarine mass BC builds, but that was a wonderful cheese by Gumi, just a simple variation with the banshee but such an elegant game plan.
Imagine you start 4-0 in the group stage and can still get eliminated
Mhm 5 zergs (ima just count serral in) in the ro8 time to watch some ZvZs tmrw.
Clem simply acknowledge that he cant really beat Gumiho on mid-late game tug of war, so he went all the way with the early game agression with amazing micro advantage.
Marc playing really well against Spirit
Spirit losing this could very Well mean He wont make it.
I dont think he would beat Showtime either way, but the Viking-Tanks mech build is making a huge return, Gumi also did the same thing a couple time when he beat Maru in ESL Summer.

Solar has great English these days. It was always good, but now it's really really good. Hope he gets to cast more, but I also hope he does well lol.

I tuned in to watch some SC2 or casters and players goofing off. How long is this metal concert going to go on for?!

Metal and StarCraft, two of the finest things of life at once.

Heromarine looks like he knows what he's doing in the kitchen there. Is pizza chef his backup career? Looks like it's a decent retirement plan for him if he wants :D
That final PvP had me on the edge of my seat.
Homestory Cup is truly magical. Its so unique, one of its kind in Esports. Hope it will continue for many years
Don't know whose cabal is responsible for the guaranteed Protoss in the ro4 but you guys can't keep getting away with this!
Feels like we are going to have sick ro8 matches, followed by some lackluster semifinals, but then hopefully a banger of a finals. Serral clem bo7 would be insane
Hahah, Skillous made me a fan today. Some funny moments in the Reynor/Skillous/Lowko cast of Serral v Showtime
happy for Lambo and Elazer

Reynor is such a premium troll. Him shaming the audience for the premature clapping was particularly comical.
Another golden moment was when Rotti hyped up the series Serral vs. Spirit, "These nerds are eager to play!," just as the camera panned to Serral having a good yawn (before proceeding to complete his 10-0).

Hi everyone,
please remember to send in your nominees for the side-contest till the end of the show today. You can do so by writing here, on Reddit, or tweet at me (tweeting directly would work the best). I'll try my best to keep an eye on it.
You guys have a great last day of HSC23. Let's enjoy the last day and the matches. :-)

oh that's a lot of mirror matches

Damn Reynor destroyed Serral this series. Impressive

Serral vs Reynor continues to underwhelm, feel like they haven't had a great series since 2019 (even when the scoreline is close it's often just trading one sided games.) Game 1 was good though.
But yeah even if Reynor looks kinda shaky overall lately, I think he has the ability to 3-0 Serral on any given day (Serral can likewise always beat Reynor.)
Momentum and tilt seems to be incredibily important in their series.
Sad for Serral but this is the event to exit early if there is one. Bigger stages ahead. Maybe we finally get Serral casting now.

lambo beating reynor really messed up the quarter draw

Solar said during Dreamhack Summer that terran are really OP now. Ro8 had 1 terran that will go out 0-3 probably.
I feel like Clems playstyle really plays to Solar's strengths

Hellbat build, Clem is officially broken mentally
Damn it's hard to believe how Solar managed to win that Royal Blood game
On July 03 2023 00:25 Charoisaur wrote: I feel like Clems playstyle really plays to Solar's strengths Yeah, Clem like to play agressive Bio Mines and Solar like to play defensive LingbaneHydra into Lurker. As long as they match the macro and micro level, Solar has the tech advantage eventually.

Idk sometimes it feels like for how good zerg can be when ahead they also have some of the best comeback tools in the game, like a toss that falls behind vs terran is mostly dead except ofc hail mary disruptor shot (tho terran also have very good comeback tools).

Well there is only Dark left as good zerg in Korea while there are several stronger terrans atm, not surprising he feels that way even though that’s not the reality.

I think the choice to play biomine over tank plays into this. Much harder to get comeback fungals or kill medivacs with hydras when the Terran army doesn't fit inside a fungal and can zone
Less a TvZ thing and more a Clem's choice to stay on mines here IMO. Let's not forget that Clem already made a major comeback even being competitive in that game.
EDIT: Original post made less sense in words than in my head.

Between this and Dreamhack it seems Zergs have figured out whatever it was about the latest patch and maps that was giving them some trouble in ZvT. Doesn't bode well for Gamers8.

I feel like every time Showtime gets a little bit ahead in mid game PvZ he just keeps adding archons and ends up being unable to do anything offensively because the zerg can just kite the archons.
Have the Disruptors gotten a single kill this game?
Serral's commentary is a blessing.
What a weird game. I'm definitely going to have to rewatch that one.
Do you think that tilts Showtime? I think it could. You get that far ahead, but are unable to kill your opponent for like .. 15 minutes?
There's a good Disruption.
Serral's commentary is the best thing about an already good set of matches.

These are the types of tournaments where the balance council thing needs to be paying attention. I saw the Stormgate gameplay reveal, that things got a long way to go before it seriously competes with SC2 as a spectator E-Sport so future balance changes should still be in the think tank.

I might disagree, but I didn't listen to the conversation
Peak serral banter

IDK if it's the right way to do it but:
- Best Cheese = Gumiho proxy helion drop into 6 banshees vs DNS (game 2) - Best Underdog = I honestly don't know, I don't want to call any of the playoff participants or 3rd place finisher an underdog lol I'll say uThermal?
uThermal vs Spirit was a real underdog win. uThermal has been playing only meme strats for like how long, and he won 2 games and almost won another one?
Best (as in "fun") series is either Showtime vs ShaDoWn or uThermal vs Mixu.
Best cheese is either GuMiho or uThermal. Factory on Mixu's main was hilarious.
Was pretty bummed when Serral lost 0-3 (and also Clem 0-3) but then his cast of Reynor v ShoWtime brought me right back up hah. quality entertainment
Unless Solar now goes full Oliveira, this is a pretty crappy finals to cap off a bit of a sad knockout phase. There were a few good games, but the series overall were super one-sided. At least the casting was great!

50-50 man strikes again.
We are in unknown territory now
50% Reynor living up to his new title?
That seemed like two games with big unforced errors from Reynor. At least it's a series :p
Wasn't Reynor's Lair in response to the ling almost sneaking in? Didn't he want to fake out the tech?
But that was a strong defense while 20 drones ahead. That was an epic baneling connection at the start.

My thoughts on it as well, it wasn't even anyone's fault that the games were kind of sub par stomp fests it just happens that way sometimes. Some tourneys have a bunch of down to the wire match point sets and some just have rofl stomps /shrug
The casting was excellent indeed really liked it, especially Serral's.
I wonder if Reynor would just give up his 3rd base in game 5 and 6 against the all-in, he would have been okay there?
Overall, I think the lack ot top Terrans making its a bit more boring to watch, because PvZ/PvP are pretty linear especially among EU players. Clem winning the HSC by smashing TvZ would have been a great story though.
Thanks Dennis for all you do! See yas again in December.
GG to Reynor. Goated bathroom break...
For this time Reynor did not crumble under pressure and survived the potential reverse sweep!
Thanks for the great show! Congrats to Reynor for the (two) trophies.
Fell asleep during the finals (not a snark) so I might have missed it, but what happened with the donation goal, HSC 24 dates and the special prizes ? (Best cheese, etc)
Looking forward to the HSC XXL edition

They the final in the Ro.8 with Serral vs Reynor.
Cool tournament though
On July 03 2023 16:37 mathenalin wrote: They the final in the Ro.8 with Serral vs Reynor.

Kinda disrespectful to Solar who took more games off Reynor than Serral did.
Casting was great, games were pretty mid. Can't force good series I guess.
It was not that bad ! Remember Rogue vs Mary final there was no match. At least Solar gave us some close final.
Hopefully he'll be there for the next hsc
I actually think the final was great. Obviously the games individually were not amazing but it lived off of it being a real destruction into "holy is it actually happening" into "ah well, close but no cigar". Live it was 10/10. If you know the result and rewatch it, its a 3/10 I guess
Another potential reason why the Final wasnt as great because we already had 3 Bo5 ZvZ on the same day with all the strategy laid out. So when the Final come, its becoming "who do the all-in first and can the other guy defend" or into "who drop down the Lair and Spire before the other"
HSC was fire as always, shame I wasn't able to visit though I wanted to. No tournament can capture this type of magic, not even close. Hopefully next time I'll be there.
