And, that's with the group stage limiting how many Zerg could even advance in the first place. Maximum we could only have had 2 additional Zergs coming from the groups, and one of those would have required Lambo qualifying in a group with Maru, Byun, Bunny, Classic and HeroMarine.
The other Zerg that could have qualified was one of the two zergs that were eliminated in Group C, and that would have required knocking out herO.
So ESL has done as much as they reasonably could to limit how many Zergs are able to clog up the playoffs, and yet here we are.

Rotti's Heromarine impression is still top tier :D

The only two players who have a winning record in an offline Bo3+ against Serral since 2018 are DRG (a single 2-0 from this tournament) and Hurricane (a single 2-0 in IEM 2020).
Serral's win rate against Koreans under those conditions are 68% in games and 78% in matches.

When's the last time we had a Chinese translator at a Blizz/ESL event? Was it Rex translating for Has around 2018-ish?

her0 v Maru a legit possibility for the finals. Save us boys.
(Serral v HeroMarine would be sick as hell though)

This match is the most even match of the playoffs until Dark meets with herO in the Ro8.

Maru would have to knock out Serral and Solar, in order to make that happen. herO would have to knock out Reynor and Dark.
HerOMarine would have to win this match, defeat Reynor and then beat the winner of Dark/Hero to get to the finals.
None of those outcomes seem likely. Possible? maybe. likely? No.
|
Yeah Serral isn't losing to a non zerg. Reynor probably won't either.
33% Dark Reynor Serral winning chance still stands however.
Maru can beat Solar but he can't beat 3 elite zerg in a row. There's only so many builds

I kinda want Solar to finally get his revenge on Maru... but I don't want another Zerg to advance, and in this tournament people would just blame it on balance anyway.

Honestly our best chance to see a non ZvZ final is for Serral to lose to Ragnarok, and I'm not betting on that happening either.

Honestly, I don't know if herO can pull that off. Beat one of them yea he can do it, but both of them? Back to back on the same day?
I know he's a boss, but that is just a REALLY steep ask.

That is really true. Also wishing Reynor and Serral meet each other earlier but the bracket prevent them from doing so until the final.

I want solar to finally beat Maru in a series. Solar is becoming a meme for Maru at this point
People will complain about Zergs regardless, even when the obvious fact is staring them in the face
The current top Zergs are just a tier above their peers
Ppl really expecting Byun and gumiho to win? Lol
Also are people really expecting herO currently 31 years old to compete against younger faster players and beat them on a consistent basis? herO is the best toss right now, but that ain’t saying much when the Protoss player field is so slim and bad

No. Well, I see Serral losing to Ragnarok and herO beating Dark and Reynor is possible I think I am also a bit confused by everyone just assuming Serral is beating Ragnarok. Today Serral looked dominant vs Elazer, but Elazer played badly, letting a bunch of pokes do wayyy more damage than they reasonably should. Meanwhile DRG stomped him and Solar beat him in fairly standard games. Ragnarok is probably better than either of those two at ZvZ.
Serral really should be the favourite, but he has looked really vulnerable this tournament. He's also shown far more ZvZ than Ragna has, so if there's timings he likes to play on, Ragna can figure that out with more ease than Serral can. Especially with how wonky Ragna's games Vs Dark were.

It's hard to say what Maru vs the top Zergs is gonna look like since he only had one match against Lambo which was a pretty quick 2-0 for him.
We don't know what the ACTUAL state of late-game TvZ is yet because we haven't seen Maru play it. Anyway setting aside a good 2 hours for Maru vs Serral tomorrow
