Seems to overlap with WTL playoffs

From replay? The EXACT overlap with the WTL playoff schedule is kind of humorous
|
Apart from Serral everyone has to play in the WTL playoffs at that time Still pretty hype event
|
|
Sucks that WTL playoffs are in the same time, but guess its time to watch this from a vod.
Amazing looking tourney!
|
Hi everyone!
Due to the overlap with WTL, the tournament is postponed. The Group A will take place next Friday, and the Group B and Playoffs dates will be announced shortly!

Group B's date is on the post above already, but the Playoffs date is not 100% confirmed. I'll edit and bump the post when we know!
And thx for your support!

I am looking at the banner and wonder why the hierarch of Protoss, Artanis/prince of Denmark, Maxpax is put way far back. Glad to see that you increased his size, though.

It's a shame the AfreecaTV platform is so bad. Whenever it decides to work I feel lucky, usually it's a mess of stream not loading, app crashing etc.
|
sad afreeca stream doesn't work for me... just a black screen. I'm craving for some amazing starcraft! Oh well, Gotta wait for the vods then.
|
So the stream just straight up die?
|
Amazing line-up. Very hype.
Had the stream open for 15 minutes with multiple reloads before I saw anything tho (:

The stream is working. Maybe try to refresh your page. Also it is sometime a bit long to load, but if you see the animated animal, just wait and it should work!

Honestly with his current form I don't see reynor coming out of his GSL group
|

As a reynor fan I sadly have to say I agree. Unless he's hiding something, and I don't think he is, even if he comes out of the group I don't think he can go much further than that.
|
tbh it as always gonna be tough for Reynor. he just moved to a completely different country, had to organise the move, then travel, get used to the time difference, the new food, climate, society, culture, etc. as well as a new house and housemates. at the same time he'll be playing in a tournament with a lot more preparation time than he's used to, but he won't be able to spend quite as much time preparing as his opponents, who ARE very used to the tournament format and the actual studio itself.
when the groups were announced I was already doubtful he'd advance - Bunny, Dream and DRG are all formidable opponents - and now I'm even less sure. But I wouldn't put it past Reynor to surprise us all.

I won't say a Katowice-ish reynor would win the GSL, because winning is always gonna be hard for everybody, and it requires a lot of things going right. But at the same time, that kind of reynor is a top 4 strong candidate. He's been there for some time now, he knows the place and the people, and tbh reynor doesn't strike me as someone with a lot of adaptability issues. Don't think preparation would be an issue, it's not rocket science, not saying he's the best at it, but even if he was average, he'd still the favorite against everyone except the top, Maru-level koreans. He said multiple times that he doesn't feel the pressure of live events, he's been at the studio already, so I think the studio will definitely not be an issue. The problem is.... he doesn't seem to be at that level, and it'd be a real shame if he goes there and doesn't show up. He admitted that he kinda hasn't trained as much except for Katowice (and it shows), I was hoping he would be more consistent this year with the WTL to play, but unfortunately it seems that's not enough to keep him at it. I don't want to sound entitled, he doesn't owe me nothing, I'm a fan and I'll still a fan anyway, but even if he's training a lot since he got to korea (he said it and I believe him) I'm not sure this time it'll be enough to raise his level in time, and the more I watch him struggle and lose, the more I'm concerned about his GSL run.

It's pretty unlikely that Reynor loses to Dream, even in poor shape. Bunny could absolutely beat an out of form Reynor though, and DRG has become good at upsetting strong Zerg with prep time. Reynor could fail to advance, but I think his decline is overstated - he did just beat herO in TSL, and if he didn't mess around with Protoss it's very unlikely he would have gotten eliminated so early from HSC (the loss to Astrea was uncharacteristic though.)

Thank you for the event. Is there a possibility to watch the vods? Couldnt find them on youtube/afreecatv.

Don't be ridiculous, guys. Reynor is not going to lose to the likes of Dream and DRG... especially Dream imo. The level that he played against Clem is more than enough

The level that he played against Clem is more than enough I get DRG cause things can happen in ZvZ and Reynor's preferred option of playing Protoss to dodge ZvZ is out of the window. Nobody would have expected DRG to have a winning record against Serral in 2022 either.
But at this stage it's very unlikely to me that Reynor doesn't advance.

Don't miss Group B tomorrow, 12pm CEST / 7pm KST, casted by BeoMulf and Elazer!
With:
Cure
MaxPax
Serral
Solar
Who will be joining herO and Clem in the Finals?
|
just finished watching. lots of great games, thanks!
|
|
On the off chance that Beomulf reads this and also just in general for anyone who might be wondering, colossi without thermal lance do not share range with marauders. Marauders are 6, colossi without lance were changed to 7 about 5 years ago (and the bonus from lance was changed from +3 to +2).
|
Cool build from Cure but it seems like a massive mistake from MaxPax to not scout the Banshees while having 5 Phoenixes on the map

In pursuit of our discussiom of the last few days, I wonder if Serral will look to follow Reynor on the PvZ solution, his zvp and zvt are looking untouchable atm.

Maxpax is actually Serral's protoss, he's saving it for IEM Katowice 2023, but if he played Protoss at lans everyone would notice. Unfortunately for Serral, since he's a patch zerg he isn't nearly talented enough to beat Dark even with more time to practice as toss than reynor.
You might ask how Serral can play himself, or how Serral has played two matches at the same time, but ESL is in on the conspiracy by letting "Maxpax" games all be cast from replay.

To be honest, I dont see any of Serral matchup is that dominant right now comparing to 2 years ago. Hes a bit down accross all 3 match up, not just on ZvZ. And in term of Zerg that can beat him consistently enough, one guy leaving for army and the other guy is switching to Protoss in the matchup, so he only have to worry about Dark.

Cure builds so few ghosts compared to Maru, and it really shows in the resources lost.

Lots of Terran try to play the Terran lategame ultimate Mech, but none can make it work like Maru does. Serral just picking Cure apart with BLord-Infestor control all game long.

I concur, really nice work on the casting and organising, and don't worry to much about us complaining about stuff, we're just continuing a long established TL.net tradition.

Not surprised to see Maxpax beating herO, but I was hoping for Serral vs herO
|
Maximus Paximus does not care about our hopes.
I hope it will not be a sweep by serral in the finals though...
|
MaxPax defended like an on prime Stats all that silly herO aggression. Hope he can put of a fight vs Clem/Serral.
|
Clem could have won this game if he just slow down a bit and put up good defense on the outer base. And I think Tanks is superiors than Mines defensively, or having both would help.

Trading well against Clem off creep is so hard (and Serral had almost none), the counter attacks definitely won Serral the game. A lot more fun than some other Clem vs Serral games we've seen recently though
|
Second game Clem loses because of a surprise fungal. Sad
|
First two games were Clem having a great or good mid game, then not hunkering down for the late game. I guess it's an improvement over HSC/TSL where he often got stomped in the mid game by Serral.
Edit: and now he loses a reaper
|
On August 23 2022 20:42 t5Fab wrote:Second game Clem loses because of a surprise fungal. Sad Its more than that, the lack of a 2nd Factory production is not great, you need to make Tanks-Mines non-stop against the mass lingbane style. Clem wants to rely on his Bio micro but it hasnt worked out for him in TvZ for a while already. You need superior positioning and tech unit to fight the Zerg off.
|
I really hoped Clem was back in form zzzz So sad but he played a bit netter than last time against serral at least
|
okay I'm sorry and I don't mean this in a bad way at all but I have to say it
I am not familiar with the caster Titanonfire and he looks like Naniwa and Wolf had a lovechild together :D

Thx everyone for watching this tournament, hope you had fun.

Thanks for the tournament, good casting!
Made me realise why longer tournaments are more exciting - one of the finalists went 2-3 in games throughout the tournament, heh.
