We're most likely going to have a ro8 with 5 Zerg and 3 Terran, and while that's not a perfectly balanced distribution of Starcraft's two races we can't realistically expect a perfectly balanced bracket every time. I'm here thinking the same thing. Sure it sucks that we have 0 Protoss players in the Ro8 but it's not like there's gonna be 8 Zergs in the Ro8 and ZvT is a very entertaining MU imo. I hate to break this to you, but his post was not serious, you may note he mentions Starcraft's two races, contrary to how things have been going lately, Starcraft technically has three races. Its telling that the post feels so close to reality though lol Oh you're right. I definitely missed that part. Anyway, I still think acting like the tournament is over is going a bit overboard. The only way to change this in the future is probably for new stronger players to start picking Protoss, which is definitely not a given. Protoss probably needs a buff too but it's a hard problem to solve since it would make ladder more skewed towards Protoss. Yeh I feel like SC2 isn't at the scale where we get the normalizing effect of large numbers—Protoss might be underpowered in the current map pool/balance patch, OR they're just in a terrible down-cycle in terms of having top-tier talent compared to the other factions.
IDK, I feel like at the end of the day there was pretty much always a lot more volatility with the protoss match up than with the other race match up. When you had a higher number of players able to play at a high level there were more chance for protoss to get a couple of lucky breaks. Now that there's only a couple of them, they risk losing early on and no one is there no one to replace them if they do. The top zerg and terran just essentially never lose to lower players.

It's getting very sad and will only get worse when Zest and Trap leave :/ I don't know if herO and Classic will ever get back to a high level. This tournament might have been the last time we have any true top level toss players and it went like this. Even if herO/Classic get back to top level I'm not sure how much better things will be. The top four zerg (I guess it'll be three soon, isn't Rogue set to go to the military soon?) feel like such a brick wall for Protoss. I feel like Zest has been playing as good as ever recently (with the exception of yesterday where he had a Zest flop), and even playing out of his mind it's a herculean effort for him to make things work. Combine that with a Terran matchup which is at best even for Protoss and it's hard to see an in-form Classic/herO winning anything more than super tournament/maybe some smaller online events.

I just thought is the death of protoss the cause of this sudden rise of the B-tier terran in these tournaments?

It just seems so obviousthat a zerg is gonna win this AGAIN, it just sucks all the fun out of the event. The top five zergs lost ONE series against other than themselves and have combined as many series losses as zest, the best protoss. And we are supposed to pretend that this tournament is competitive for any other than the zergs nah fuck that im out. Lets hope a balance patch finally fixes the queens when zerg wins katowice for the FIFTH year in a row Yeah and every prominent figure of SC2 is pretending that SC2 is fine at balance. Which doesn't help even a little bit. Maps are fine, balance is fine, Protoss is fine, Maru wins thus Terran is fine. Also we love Reynor and Serral so Zerg isn't OP.

nerf terran early-mid-game timing attacks vs protoss and buff terran late game vs protoss and I think this matchup would be a lot more enjoyable for both parties.
in zvp I guess nerf toss air and compensate the core units properly vs zerg.

How did the red full medevac survived the dropping frenzy? oO

You just dont want to let Mech max out. That trade was worth it because look how much faster he remaxed.
This is Mech vs Bio 101.
|
Why are the casters acting like that was a terrible fight for Maru? He was maxed out and up two bases playing bio vs mech. you're supposed to zerg them at that point.
|
The casters made it look like what Maru did was a mistake but no that was exactly what Maru wanted. He traded his supply of Bio into Air Dominance and then killed him with the next move.

feels like wardi thought maru was gonna win the game right there and when he didnt it seemed like a defeat to him hence the misinterpretation

Except for all intents and purposes, Maru DID win the game right there. He shot ahead like 35 supply immediately after that, he reset the Thor count, and completely wiped Dream's air army.
What happened in the next few minutes was just Dream bleeding out from the chest wound that Maru gave him right there.

IDK, feel like he gave Dream a chance for a counter when he didn't need to. Killing the third cc was probably worth it anyway

I'm actually glad that I woke up after all the Protosses got eliminated in shitty fashion, saves me the heartache.

I feel that. I don't think there can be that much debate at this point that there's a real issue, and the discussions end up as just repetitive complaining, but I live in hope for Hero/Classic and/or some new blood to step it up as the Protoss saviors and/or maybe a balance patch and/or some better maps.
Anyway, here today to cheer for Reynor and assorted underdogs!

What a move from Dream. Looks like he's pretty far ahead now.
