Stats looks back to form. Cure maybe the best terran right now. Rogue can focus on GSL, because no big tournaments in the future and Zest, who in good day can be №1 and in bad day number last
Cure played like someone who didn't study for the final exam, and the result was catastrophic. god awful game, nice preparation Cure, you prepared a freaking one base strategy against one of, if not, the most defensive players in the game. It's like throwing this against Serral, it's gonna do fuk all lol
hellions haven't been good since protoss learned to use batteries, tank pushes is where the money is at.

Though it is good to see Stats deflecting pressure just like the old days. Hope he makes it out today.
It's changed PvP a lot more (and for the better).
I dunno, I've seen some pretty wonky PvPs after the battery overcharge. It still seems like a crazy matchup.
Sure games can still be wonky, but just look at how it's influenced openings. It's gone from a match-up where people opened 2-gate 95% of the time to one where, gate expands and nexus first are actually viable. And we've seen more lategame PvPs since the patch than there were in the previous year.
Stats won but what the hell was that lol. He was so indecisive and took forever to try to kill him when he was 60 supply up. Then almost threw the game and let the supply equalize.
I just realized, do GSL champs still get those pins they put in their shirts? I remember when you could tell who Mvp was solely due to his 4 pins. (Also I remember Maru using them sometimes).
Tasteless makes it sound like people couldn't deal with the adept in early LotV solely due to the novelty factor, and is glossing over the fact that early LotV adepts were incredibly broken and have been nerfed like four times since then.

Pretty sure they do, I've seen pictures of Maru with them. They just don't wear them all the time.

Yeah, Rogue is clearly using one but I was weirded out because I don't remember them being so big (?
Protoss is winning, I'll take it. But Cure shouldn't play agressive builds vs Stats and Rogue should have prepared builds that are better against adepts for Zest.
I mean if Rogue is doing this it's good, I'm not sure why Tastosis think you can just kill the hatch and be fine, if it's that easy it won't cut it vs sOs lol

But it wasn't good. Zest was super far ahead, all he had to do was not die to the easy to stop thing he knew Rogue was doing.

Yeah this game was completely over amd then Zest didn't bring his probe down to rewall fast enough.

Exactly. Rogue had no gas to do the actual scary things, Zest had everything he needed to come out super far ahead there, but he just panicked/was confused at wtf Rogue was doing.

I think the key is confusion, zest brought two probes and semi walled at rogue nat with the gate so he could fight the drones in a better position, the fact that didn't happen mess up with zest

But it didn't even matter, he had the game on lock up until the point his wall was a few seconds too late and the stargate got unpowered. It only came down to the late wall.

Whoever wins this match might be in a worse state than whoever gets 2nd in the group. 1st plays Trap, while 2nd plays Dream, who is a much weaker opponent IMO. However, given how stacked this group is it's probably best to not risk it.
Honestly kinda surprised to see a Korean go double stargate phoenix. Of late it's been much more of a sorta common build in the non-Korean scene. Stats played it well though.
Those nydus worms were a great bluff to buy time for the hydra/bane transition. I wish Stats had just sat back, defended his fourth and gotten storm though. Felt like he was in a pretty decent position to go late.

Or been much more aggressive and hit before the Hydra Bane transition.
He chose the in between option which was the worst one tbh.
Early LotV Adepts were good, beta LotV Adepts were straight up broken. Blizzard's response to this was give Zealot charge 30 damage because they weren't being used enough.

I was hoping Rogue would advance in first and Stats/Zest in second so the Ro8 would have a decent distribution. Now all the Protoss are on one side of the bracket.
Stats looks in very good form atm though and his PvP winrate is insane. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the finals.

it's better this way, now we can have DRG v Stats finals

Early LotV adepts were also broken.
Early LoTV was broken in general. Tankivacs, 8 armor ultralisks, release level Liberators, release level Adepts, Byun's Reapers lol.
I tend to just ignore those years when I think about pro SC2 now. I wasn't watching a ton because I was working a ton at night and I really don't feel like I missed much.

Stats has an insane winrate in PvP. so I could see him getting to the finals. Inno looks like the strong favorite on the other side of the bracket though.
Weirdly enough, I just watched 2014 GSL S3's Soo vs Zest matches several hours ago and hoped that Rogue would utilize this meta build, but then he got easily destroyed by the highly-defensed counters from Stats. Maybe Rogue should tech up to Ravagers, instead of a bunch of lings.

Stats should make it unless ty beats parting, i don't think i have ever seen ty lose to stats. INno should reach the finals...but i wouldn't be surprised to see him get upset in the semis

I still can't believe they even introduced Tankvacs. When I saw a clip of someone chasing a Zerg army around with tank vacs I almost died from laughter.

This is where we need feardragon to tell us something along the line that hives can never be one shotted by mass dts since there isn't the surface area, but that all other buildings in the games can.
Ouch, poor Cure, 0-4'ed against Toss today. Sounds detrimental but as soon as you noticed DT blink, stop relying on scans, get a goddamn Raven in there.

At a guess, he planned on going SH/nydus the whole time, just because Golden Wall.

Yeah, doesn't he just die if Zest had followed it up like Trap did, with a prism and chargelots?

Standard 7 gate gladept used to be the build that kept 2 base SH from being played every game originally so I'd say yes.

? if Rogue hadn't scouted the stargates right before starting SH production, he would've lost the game to mass phoenix

He was thinking a ling wouldn't go to the upper left corner.
Rogue never lost Bo7 series, right? Dream must try hard to prevent that scenario to happen.
Rogue is 7-0 in offline bo7s, but he does lose them offline (as everybody does). However, only one of those is vs Terran, and he has lost a few bo7 and bo9s online vs INnoVation rather recently.
On July 25 2020 16:15 Argonauta wrote: Rogue says zerg is not doing well. Will people will make as much of a fuzz than when he said Zerg was too good?
Most of the Korean pros do seem to think that TvZ is very Terran favored. The results so far haven't really supported this theory.
Well winrates in this GSL and the last GSL are both very Terran favored
Sure. But Cure, Maru, INno, TY also managed to lose all their series against Serral and Reynor at Dreamhack Summers, and despite all the excuses in the world that hardly sells the idea that ZvT is unwinnable.
This group surprised pleasantly! Original prediction of Zest and Cure went out the window but happy to see Stats on form again. Looking at the bracket I think Stats could realistically make finals, his PvP is really solid.
Also can I just point out how sick the day 1 of ro8 is? DRG vs INno and Dream vs Rogue? Can't wait.
This bet may be the most exciting storyline of this GSL so far.
Pretty meh day all round. Cure didn’t so much not being his A game as decide to bring his D game, PvZ gonna PvZ. One great nail biter between Stats and Rogue though.
I have a hard time believing Cure hasn't been corrupted for this round. He threw so hard with his choice of builds, and landing vikings to have them killed by disruptor when there were colossi one screen over killing his marines, it just looks incredibly suspicious considering how dominant he's been this year.
And just straight up not building workers? Come on.

Everyone except the uber machine Serral has a super bad day sometimes. Didn't find it suspicious at all he just played terribly all around and was up against good PvT players
just watched Rogue vs Zest, awful series was cheering for Stats+Rogue to get through so I'm kinda happy but thought Cure would take this easily .. I was wrong
