I'm pleased to announce the Global Clan Invitational, a $1,000 SC2 tournament featuring 16 top EU pros! This tournament has been generously sponsored by the notable WC3 team, Global Clan! Word has it they're looking to pick up a SC2 roster too... but no pressure, teamless pros.
The tournament features a dual-tournament format, and includes two group stages, semifinals, bronze match, and finals.
Group Stage 1
Group A will be played on April 14th at 17:00 GMT (+00:00)
Group B will be played on April 15th at 17:00 GMT (+00:00)
Group C will be played on April 16th at 17:00 GMT (+00:00)
Group D will be played on April 17th at 17:00 GMT (+00:00)
Group Stage 2
After a brief break in the action, (see THE SHIFT for more details) Group Stage B will be played on April 23 and 24th at 17:00 GMT (+00:00). The semifinals, bronze match, and finals will be held on April 25th at 17:00 GMT (+00:00).
So pleased to announce that we've expanded our casting roster to include a French restream as well! All you baguette-munchers out there can join Zuka for coverage of this event!
Due to the announcement of another large EU tournament, we have had to update the dates for the Global Clan Invitational. Initial and secondary group stages have been pushed back one day, and the semis/finals will now take place on the 27th. Please see the updated Liquipedia page for the new schedule!
Second update: We have changed the Group A start date due to the late announcement of the Red Bull Xel'Naga thingy. Group A will now be held on April 16th at 13:30 GMT (+00:00).
Quick note on Group D: Unfortunately, Denver's computer has broken down today, so he is unable to play in this group. Luckily, MaxPax has stepped up to take his place! The tournament will continue as planned.
With the announcement of the TSL5, we are shifting these groups back so as not to coincide with that qualifier. New dates:
1. Global Clan Invitational Group A2: was April 24 changed to April 27 2. Global Clan Invitational Group B2: was April 25 changed to April 28 3. Global Clan Invitational Playoffs: was April 27 changed to April 30
Happy to announce that we've added Polish and Spanish language coverage to Group Stage 2! Please check out the full list of our casters, as the action spins up in just a few short hours!
Our first two players have advanced to Thursday's playoffs, and the VoDs are now available for Group Stage A2. Please check out the playlist below, and tune in tomorrow for Group Stage B2.
Playoffs have been set! We'll see you on Thursday at 17:00 GMT (+00:00) for the thrilling conclusion. If you missed the action today, the YouTube playlist has been updated!
Wow, that was a crazy game - first time seeing the map split like that. It seems like uThermal has good early / mid game, but just doesn't know how to close it out vs. Reynor. His battle mech composition has been really ineffective in G2 and G3
How do you close it out v so many infestors though. Cant really engage into that with loads of thors and Bc's. Thought he would invest a bit more into the battlemech style after sniping the hive for the first time. Could of helped against the mass corruptor ling bane army. Thors just dont trade great v reynors comp
Very strange strategy of mass orbital/battlecruiser with no ground army or walling. And then he sniped all the tech repeatedly, and somehow didn't face any ling runbys for 20 minutes. It was fun, though rather dubious strategically on both sides.
Nice to see after clem that Heromarine and uThermal are contesting Reynor as well. uThermal especially was hold back by his TvP a lot this year but after beating showtime 3 times in a weeks time hes now showing some great games v Reynor as well who in previous matches looked untouchable for Thermy. After a 3-2 win over Reynor earlier today now another deciding game between these two. Zergs must be worried how TvZ will look like after the patch.
This Creighton Olsen guy is pretty cool. Good casting and great touney. Normally dont want foreigner fests but this is really entertaining. Thanks for making this happen
Watching Clem vs Reynor over and over, it is _astonishing_ how much more micro potential Terran units have, even knowing up front that Terran is supposed to be the "ranged glass-cannon race".
The amount of value Clem gets out of his units is insane.
