Sounds plausible!

Maybe next time Serral, maybe next time.

Surely not h2h nor Serral's performance against Zerg in this tournament. Very disappointing final. He was on point in every match-up and even beat Reynor easily in ZvZ as well as Dark, and rolled through Zest that Serral couldn't handle. I'd say Serral would have faired better against Maru than Rogue No serral is the best player in the world he lost against zest because he got caught offguard and didn't play at his usual level but he is still a better player than zest and a better player than rogue and a better player than anyone else yes he lost this one time but everyone loses to some unexpected things from time to time not losing is not possible in starcraft but serral is still the best player in the world even if he doesn't win every tournament because he is still the best player in the world and better than rogue who he beats every time
"didn't play at his usual level " - While every other player always play at their best level. Makes sense.

Ok that's probably a better way of putting it

Ok, so I just came back from work and liqupedia says it's over? Is this a rerun?

It's super easy to fix zerg. We can start with these and then re-adjust for the second round of zerg nerfs.
Make Queen build from spawning pool. (Zerg has the only macro mechanic which scales from better play) Undo the bane HP buff. (Why the hell did it get it in the first place) Make banes do -50% damage to shields (ZvP has been broken for 2 1/2 years) Undo the insane Ferrari overlord buffs (Zerg already has the best vision and scouting)

Maru won 2 map vs Solar and 2 vs Rogue, then INno won 2-1 vs Solar... and that's it right? Where the hell are the other 18 maps? I mean open bracket has pretty much anyone who want sign up, it's not really a useful metric.
But overall the problem isn't a general race imbalance, but that at the top level zerg seems to become way stronger. Do we think someone else than a zerg is gonna win the next WCS? What about WESG, Dark, Serral, Rogue and Reynor are in that, are TY and Maru gonna beat them all? Next ST and GSL too, will have Dark and Rogue (and maybe Reynor) as the favorite coming in.
Of course they are gonna lose once in a while, but on average they are favored in every tournament they enter.

Yes, it's over.

Well that doesn't seem like a great idea either, we need some competitive integrity A good start imo would be to finally revert the baneling buff completely and nerf queens a little bit as well. Zerg seems too flexible and banelings rolling over everything no matter what it is became quite old as well.
I have to say seven consecutive Premier tournaments won by Zerg are a little too much for me as well.
There is no balance issue in TvZ, maps of more appropriate dimensions are already being designed and an adequate map pool will do the trick.
I actually think Protoss is the race that needs to be adjusted. Aggressive timings and/or cheesy builds have been surprisingly effective in this tournament against Zerg(partly against Terran, too) but I see them having not much hope once the game progresses.

I'm not upset with these results.
Zerg is too strong, the maps are STILL too Zerg favored, whatever you want to explain it with.
But Zest over Serral is tasty as hell. Rogue over Maru especially how the series went, is just more Jin Air on Jin Air violence that if the brackets were drawn up better might have been held in the finals instead of the semis. I firmly believe Rogue vs Maru was the ACTUAL final of the tournament.
Whatever though. The gap is wider.

The gap is approximately the same looking at Katowice 2019 and, I repeat, there is nothing that would suggest that Rogue or Maru would have beaten Serral if he were drawn on their side of the bracket.

Sure there is. 3-2 vs 4-1.
The numbers don't lie.

Rogue's ZvZ record at the tournament was 4-0 in series and 9-0 in maps.
