The games are cool to watch but i have no freaking idea why we watch the exact same players battleing on what seems to be several same format to qualify to the wcs main event. And side note where did dayshi qualify ??? I follow a lot of starcraft and its the first time i seriously dont understand the qualifying process of a main event It is a bit complicated, especially since the wikipedia doesn't have a comprehensive qualifier page, but basically there have been 3 EU qualifiers if I understand this correctly: 1. online (open to everyone), 2. national and 3. online (open to top 16 on the EU ladder) EDIT: and yes, Dayshi qualified yesterday, because there were only 4 / 16 that hadn't qualified already, and Dayshi made it further in the winner bracket than any of the others.

I follow a lot of starcraft and its the first time i seriously dont understand the qualifying process of a main event ...summing it up: WCS has a new qualifying/invite system: 8 players from Regional Challengers: 2 slots for Europe, Africa and the Middle East 2 slots for North America (USA and Canada) 1 slot for Latin America 1 slot for China 1 slot for Oceania, Southeast Asia and Japan 1 slot for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau 14 players from Server Qualifiers: 8 slots for EU Server Qualifier 6 slots for NA Server Qualifier 2 players from National Qualifier 8 invites from 2015 WCS Standings Regional Challengers are region-locked tournaments that give 8 slots (in total) for the main event: in Europe and NA regions these are ladder-related with the top 16 battling for 2 and 2 spots. In the other regions the spots are given following the results of a region-locked tournament (Copa America, GPL, own format for TW/HK, open bracket + 4 invites for SEA...); Server Qualifiers are EU and NA region-locked open brackets that allowed respectively 8 and 6 players to qualify for the main event; National Qualifier is a country-locked qualifier that gives 2 slots for the main event and it is limited to the players representing the country in which the main event will take place (Poland in this case); invites from 2015 WCS Standings are 8 invite-slots given according to the last year WCS standing (excluding Koreans which are not eligible to play in the WCS Circuit). Unfortunately, being the first time for it, some things went a little weird and Server Qualifiers took place before the Regional Challengers (the ladder related ones for EU and NA) which caused a lot of players to be already qualified and battling it "only" for money and WCS points and not really for the spots in the main event (that most of them already obtained in the previous qualifiers). From the next time, at least if I got this correctly, the order should be swapped so the Regional Challenger should have more "value" and less chaos for the seedings since Server Qualifiers do not have a prize pool or wcs points to battle for (so unuseful for who will already be qualified). Dayshi is qualified because everyone "ahead of him" in the EU Regional Qualifier has already qualified in the previous qualifying-events.

And in the last "qualifying" 12 of the players were already qualified. Well, looks quite complicated. I always look for events which I can recommend to friends not familiar with SC2 (but with interest in RTS). DH? Too unpredictable, starting late, showing "next game soon" most of the time. These qualifyings? Even the regular viewers got confused. So what's left? Maybe BTTV, exciting games and a reliable broadcast.

Since this is the first competition following the format, things are probably extra confusing. Maybe it would make sense to start with the ladder qualification next time.
