Couldn't take a nap before the tournament? Players have lives and families, you can't just flip your sleeping schedule around and around and around at will. I'm sure he did take a nap but a nap isn't enough to give you 10 hours of endurance. The fatigue took an obvious toll as you saw with that muta control mistake which resulted in his entire muta ball getting killed. It's fine though, the qualification is what mattered. He wanted to put on a good showing against Polt and he did, I think if the mutas hadnt died he'd have won that game, he had the superior economy and his 3/3 was well on the way. He'll get a chance at revenge at the event. I just find saying someone is tired is a bad excuse for playing poorly That's weird, because it's maybe the most legitimate excuse for any SC2 player playing poorly. It sucked for Symbol as well, the qualifier is setup at a time which makes life difficult for the Koreans living in SK, but ideal for those that moved to Europe for WCS and such. You can't exactly have people stay up just for KR and EU region either. What about all the NA players that were trying out but knocked out early in the tournament? It's a global qualifier and so there will always be time zone problems. It's just that it affects different people. Having said that, do I like the idea of global qualifier? Yes and no. I think it would be better if there was two NA qualifiers, one EU qualifier, one KR/TW/CN qualifier, and one or two global qualifiers. That way, players can possibly play at a better time and not have to play in the wee hours like Impact or all the other players that were affected by fatigue.
I don't necessarily like the regional qualifiers thing, it just seems like a wasted slot. If a foreigner can't get through the qualifier with mixed regions then they're not gonna be able to get anything done in the main tournament, so you'd be better off with a more competitive player.
The suggestion someone had earlier was great, keep all 3 qualifiers local but rotate the times to favour different regions. That would be great.

I assumed they already planned that but was disappointed to learn they did not. Should be standard practice for global events like this so people can pick they best date they can compete.

The suggestion someone had earlier was great, keep all 3 qualifiers local but rotate the times to favour different regions. That would be great. I appreciate the attitude that whom so ever happen to be the best players should be the ones going through, but it also depends on what the aim of the tournament is. If it's more of an olympic style event, i.e. every country or region or whatever sends one competitor, and then it's a region vs region showdown, then regional qualifiers make sense.
If the aim is simply to get the absolute best players regardless, then having an open bracket with rotating timezones and home servers makes sense. In Sc2 this is a little skewed because one region is just so massively superior that only a very select few of the people outside can even compete with mid-tier Koreans. I don't know what Red Bull is looking for, but they likely know for a fact that having foreigners in the main event will draw viewership, so I'm not surprised they look for ways to insert at least a few.
