Taeja destroyed life in one of the best TvZs ever @dreamhack on this very map.
Good things incoming.

The format is arguably what makes for these games though

No. These games aren't good because of the format...

yup, players will not play half-ass. they will fight to the death for 100K. love the gladiator aspect of this tournament. more bread and circuses, virtual circuses

Thanks Naniwa.

Now we know why some gladiators were losing back in the Antiquity. Their opponent could hear the crowd and defend their cheesy moves.

hahahahaha

Awesome game.

This is what happens when you take a top terran and top zerg, throw them together and get lucky because no one went mech or swarm hosts. Then, magic happens.

No viewers ? .____.

It was showing 20k for me, should have refreshed the stream page. 55k is actually quite awesome and from here on it will only go up i feel. :D

Ya there was quite a bit for the Open Bracket and the 1st day, so 55k for RO8 isn't bad, and I feel there are so many people there live that it would bring up the viewership some if those people were watching from home. But all-in-all 55k is damn good compared to the amount of people who actually play SC2 these days.

Edit: It's actually been a steady 40-45k the whole time and that's damn good for sponsors and such so I'm satisfied. I'm curious what the numbers will be for the final.
There are things known, and things unknown, and in-between are the doors.

nowhere near 100k...

why does this matter?

Honestly Revival vs Jjakji mech vs swarm hosts was pretty sick! Just gotta throw in some mutas and stuff.

Did you watch IEM Cologne? Sick games and the format was different. The players make the games not the format. Thinking this "gladiator aspect" is doing this to the games is just stupid.

i disagree. players will play their absolute best for 100K. no relax games, or full foreigner games will be at a minimal. it's good to see the audience will watch players play for something on the line. Like Poker

If you think this then you think every other tournament not winner take all is a farce because people might not be playing their hardest. Also there have been some shitty games at this tournament too.

true, it's not black and white. i think the viewship levels and attendance will be the ultimate indicator whether this format woked,
the players agreed to this harsh tournament, they will have to live with the consequences of getting nothing at all. but it's good for the sport i think.it's a step in the right direction to actually have something on the line, like money, careers, sponsorship.

but i hear your point

viewers number must be equal to the prize pool, else it's not a successful tournament

jjakji vs Revival, jjakji vs HyuN, Flash vs DRG, Bogus vs Soulkey... We had some great mech TvZ games involving Swarm hosts.

Because LoL and DOTA 2 get them ergo SC2 needs to be comparable or exceed the numbers otherwise it is a dead game.

For every viewer, like, or share on Facebook we will donate 1 esports dollar to the prize pool~

Actually, the more pressure there is, the more you will see critical blunders. See for instance what happened to Revival vs jjakji in the last game of their series.

Or far more recently, the leenocking of 20+ banelings

In Code A, if you lose there that can basically end your career in Korea.
