Gotta say that the overall impression so far is still that dear looks freaking scary. He is pretty damn good

Maybe it isn't? He was about to go collosi tech when shit started to go down. If he only made the oracle and didn't make any phoenixes maybe he would've had a collosus or 2 to defend the drop and have most of his army guard his 3rd.

This. People constantly arguing that unit clumping is making SC2 less skillful seem to miss the important fact that, with micro like maru's, you can actually do so much more with your units.

Almost nobody is capable of spliting units that well, which is a testament to the high skill cap in this game.

Gotta rebuild that mothership core Dear! Couple of timewarps at the third or even just a Nexus Cannon and he can probably hold that.

Good point. Those Phoenixs really did not do much. Four of them too. It also meant a lot more Medivacs for Maru.

he had one, he rebuilt it after it died in the early game. he just didn't use it at all, probably forgot to hotkey it or something cuz he seemed to only remember he had it when Maru did the drop in his main

1 out of 10 games? Because of the composition and supply of Dear vs Maru in that engage, I'd say Dear would win 75% of the time. Maru lost too many medivacs / units to hold the attack. If he would have sniped the nexus and tech that he did and got out with the army that did so, he would have won.

Oracle comes in and kill 8 workers! Maru is in a terrible position now, his units were out on the map heading for Dear base.
Phoenix's started for Dear who has 3/4 unscouted already
11 workers killed now as the phoenix's fly in a pick off more. They soon run out after getting hit by the nicely placed widow mine.
Storm and charge started for Dear as he builds on his lead.
Maru producing as much bio as he can as he tries to catch up. 1-1 upgrades done for maru whilst +2 armor is about to finish for Dear
3rd goes down for Dear - Maru +2 weapon starts
Storm is done!
Maru dodges the storms nicely and his bio stands up really well! Dear might of over extended...might!
3rd starts for maru as he pushes towards Dear 3rd
Supply is even! As maru engages at the 3rd. Just chargelots and templar for Dear
10 gate Dear is struggling with Maru and his bio at the moment. Maru picks up his army and 4 medivac drops the main! Dear out of position
Down goes the main nexus, and maru pushes the 3rd! Down goes the 3rd! Dear on 1base and a minimal army of zealot templar and 2 archon
Maru smells blood and pushes the 3rd with all he has! Dear is overwhelmed, he is dead!
Maru was 2-1 vs 0-2 there, that was a big turning point!

I am really enjoying watching his very technical play. He does all those extra things you spot as an observer and wonder why progamers don't do it.
