haha. I recently dreamt of that song. it's so camp I can't hate it too much, interestingly, the one track in the GSL playlist I haven't grown completely sick of.

I'm doing both though

and personally I'm not just blaming tasteless, Artosis was pretty dry in game 1 too. They seem more warmed up now.

It wasn't that he didn't "perfectly predict the outcome of a game", rather he was calling it the exact opposite repeatedly for like 5 minutes.... like he doesn't understand the game...... like because he hasn't even played the game for years.... despite the fact that it is his job...... all his game time goes into playing old NES / SNES games on emulators, hearthstone and world of tanks. There is a reason why for the last bunch of major events they only get Artosis to come cast.

You should probably just watch the game and have some fun

This. People constantly arguing that unit clumping is making SC2 less skillful seem to miss the important fact that, with micro like maru's, you can actually do so much more with your units.

Almost nobody is capable of spliting units that well, which is a testament to the high skill cap in this game.

And you need to be Terran - or Zerg to some degree. For Protoss such micro opportunities don't really exist -_-

Hmm, not comparably, no. :-/

I'd like to be able to manually control and direct charge in these small scale engagements. Than have to rely on Colossi.

Can't you turn off auto-cast for charge? I mean it might be some of the hardest micro in the game but you could potentially 'charge micro' zealots.

I don't really understand the hype around Maru... Game 2 was just most basic stuff that Dear didn't have an answer to. Maru literally did 3 things: Split, stutterstep and doomdrop. The execution was good, but not mindblowing and far away from one player outclassing the other.

I actually have to disagree with tasteless on Maru being the super-uber-gosu strategic mastermind. His win was 100% micro while Dear had the neat build that failed due to him not controlling his army properly.

I think the hype comes from him winning the GSL and then reaching the Ro4 this season. Maybe that is just me though

Not sure but you CAN charge zealots at each other. so effectively you could charge a zealot at the back of the pack up to the front, and so-on. think of how much faster the ground would be covered if you could do this efficiently with 1000apm!

He was down 16-20 workers at one stage. By the time they engaged at Dear's third he was 4 workers behind....i think that is credit to Maru and his macro no?

I actually saw some of the players at ASUS ROG talking about / testing auto vs manual charge (some - I won't name any - didn't realize you could manually charge). There's a lot micro (and positioning) that can really raise the skill cap higher than people think.

(yes, sc2 has different mechanical skill preference than either BW or WC3, wow)

You can turn off charge and do that.

Yeah. But, I meant direct Zealots to points on the map and then activate charge. So that they flank rather than bullrush. I've yet to see any pro-Protoss try to do that. Direct small squads of Zealots tactically rather than as a mass charging suicide squad.

I really wish Artosis and Tasteless would abandon their idea that if you win code S that automatically makes you the best player in the world.
Actually, even going further I wish they would stop constantly labeling players as (He is the best player in the world) followed by whatever player losing making them sound kinda dumb...
No one player is the clear best like Flash was in BW, so can we all just stop being so persistent about having to have a "best player"

Just let the hype building happen, it is more entertaining to hear "This guy is the best in the world!" rather than "well at the moment this guy is doing quite well but it is hard to be consistent so let's wait and see"

Don't get me wrong I'm not being some sour puss, I understand their intentions and all i.e. just kinda being fun, building hype and what not but it had just gotten so old to hear by now. I think it's been pretty clear in the past that the winner of code S really doesn't translate to he's the best player. SC2 is far too... hmm volatile? where any decent player can take out a player far more skilled than them just because of how the game is designed.
And on another point, if people want SC2 to be taken more seriously and all it just doesn't sound very intelligent(maybe wrong word) or unprofessional to keep harping on BEST PLAYER IN TEH WORLDZ... and that title of best player in teh worldz just somehow seems to change from player to player every few months. Someone comes around and dominates for a bit then falls back.
It's just an annoyance to me, especially when they are saying player X is the best player when everyone that has a clue about the SC2 scene knows damn well that player X isn't the best player... You don't see other sports saying irrational shit like that every game..
I think the only way to give a title like that respectfully and actually have it Mean something is the player that wins world finals or blizzcon or something. but each time they harp on some new best player they discredit the title of best player.
Going by how often they dish out best player in teh world awards it sure seems like SC2 is a volatile game that shouldn't be taken seriously.
K gonna stop now before people bitch and moan at me and throw pitchforks.. Not trying to insult your favorite or should I say BEST casters in teh worldz!@
Code S time~!

I can see your point and for some people, like yourself, it is probably annoying to hear that so and so is the best in the world when you know differently. Probably Tastosis know this too but it is their job to hype up the game.

I have to disagree with your point that other sports don't say irrational shit like that.

I watch NFL pretty much every Sunday, Monday and Thursday and every game you will hear that one of the players is the best in the league at his position, or one of the teams has the best defence in the league etc.
A lot of this will go against stats or even the play from the past few weeks but it is a hell of a lot more exciting to hear "Possibly the greatest NFL QB going up against the world's best pass rusher" When in reality it is some middle of the road QB up against some guy who has faced weak OL for the past few weeks.

It is part of the entertainment

Heh, I thought my reply was going to not get seen and skipped but alas!

I definitely see your point and for the most part of my sc2 experience I have had the same opinions on the matter and still do to a point. I don't know if I'm just kinda irritated tonight or whatever but that phrase "Best player in the world" is brought up so often by them specifically and most of the time they're saying it about a player who is clearly not the best in the world... It's just annoying to hear it now.
Looking back to BW and the great fun part of watching it were the stories behind the matches and what not, that is something that I personally think is severely lacking in the sc2 scene making it just not as fun to watch. I think it would add to the viewing experience if the title of Best player in the world was rarely attributed to a player. So when you hear "X player is the best in the world" it actually means something, like "wow this player has done this and this and won this many tournys in a short amount of time they really do deserve to be called the best, they worked for it" ~ I want to be able to say that when I hear that phrase, it should be prestigious in the SC2 scene... you can only have one #1 best player.
Flash was the best player
Jaedong was the best zerg
Those players truly deserved a title like that, but it just wouldn't mean anything if you would hear casters saying other zergs or just other players in general are the best in the world or their respective races just because they happened to end up winning one tournament.
TL;DR I think it would add a lot to the viewing experience if the community/casters would actually hold the title of 'Best player in the world' in high regard only given to a player that truly deserves it and has shown that they are the best over a longer period of time... like re-evaluating who the best are at the end of the year, once a year.
Right now they toss around best in the world titles like it means nothing, like just throwing candy into a crowd of kids or something.
Give me more of a storyline. Sorry for typing so much... Adderall blues.
