they changed the permadeath mechanic? That was the thing that made FE so cool. I never wanted anybody to die so it took me weeks to beat. You gotta play so careful and just restart all the time.
It's a setting now, so player choice.
Yet another game that's nerfing itself to cater to casual players ugh.
Fire Emblem isn't Fire Emblem without perma death on the characters. That moment when you're forced into sacrificing a character to beat a level... ugh so heartbreaking but then it hits you that this is what a real conflict would actually be like.

Does it work well in Fire Emblem? Hardcore Diablo was kind of sad, as it mostly degenerated into endless farming to prepare your character for the next risky endeavour. That, and how you were mostly forced to settle into highly-optimized, tedious routines of spells/actions for anything but the most trivial engagements.

There was a version of the game where you get a hidden character if you kill 10 of your characters in the first 3 chapters. I totally did that, but it wasn't worth it.
I feel mines are incredibly important against zerg because they are essentially terrans only unit that is immune to vipers cloud
as much as i hate mines, they serve that purpose and if you were to remove mines zerg would probably have ultra high winrates vs terran with cloud (which is good even against bio)
so yeah just felt like pointing that out
i feel the mine aoe nerf is fine, it still has decent aoe, just saying more and more i realize how important mines are when it comes to needing to be safe against vipers

With the new mechanics of the game I think it works. But if you play Maniac, you'll still have to use the highest teir characters to win.
