lichter's notes: I am currently writing a FAQ for LR threads, to be included at the bottom of each LR. Mostly I want it to address questions regarding LR threads, as well as questions about becoming LR OPs. Please look through the FAQ and PM me with ideas to improve it. TY!
Volunteer! All you have to do is check if there's already a thread for the tournament, or if anyone is scheduled to make the thread. If there isn't a thread and no one is scheduled to do it, you can become the LR OP! We are always looking for new people to help out, especially for WCS AM and EU.
Being the LR thread OP is hard work, but it's also fulfilling. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people check the LR thread every day, and it is a valuable resource to the community. It's a simple way of supporting SC2, the game we all presumably love :p
Now that I've decided to be a LR OP, what do I do? + Show Spoiler +
Next, read up a little on bbcode and familiarize yourself with it. It helps to look at the code for previous LR OPs.
Finally, check your schedule. Are you SURE you'll be around for the duration of the tournament? Are you sure you'll be able to update in a timely manner?
If everything checks out and you've done all of the above, all you have to do is make the thread!
Where can I find previous LR OPs, as well as LR resources? + Show Spoiler +
LRing is tough work, and only a handful of people do it regularly. The most famous ones are Shellshock and The_Templar, but occasionally other people (such as packrat, Yello, etc) do it as well. If no one is available to do it, then there is no LR. Again, we need more volunteers. Anyone who watches games regularly and types really, really fast has qualifications to become an LRer.
All you have to do is write out what happens during the game. It doesn't need to be complete, but it should be a good summary of the entire game. Supply counts, timings, build orders, and major events are typically what receive priority in LRs. You can read more LRs by Shellshock and The_Templar for a better idea of how to do it.
Can I submit a new banner, player photos, or other images? + Show Spoiler +
Yes! We encourage creativity in LR threads, so if you want to submit some fancy stuff and replace the premade ones, go right ahead.
Who do I contact if I have questions about LR threads? + Show Spoiler +

I like how the changed the overlay (yesterday the twitch logo covered supply of on player and font was very small), but the brightness/gamma is still bad :/

you were but threw it kinda :/ gosowser kinda summed it up for me. He said something along; suppy had a lead but now not anymore because he choose the wrong tech. (around midgame when not teching to hive to build viper, instead building corrupters).

Hey Suppy! :D Don't worry, keep fighting!
I *think* the problem may have been a lack of roaches to tank the Colossi shots, so Suppy's hydras died too quickly. I know roaches are supply heavy, but Suppy did have a handful that he sent up earlier to draw the Protoss army out of position. Either more roaches in that battle or don't engage in that location against a Protoss composition like that. I apologize in advance for being a Plat player trying to give advice >_<
o snap it is! 15 OC 15 rax 15 gas 15 reactor 15 2nd depot. 150 min 150 gas and depot finishes all same time.
WOoooooot! You get sick fast 3 reaper.
Totally glad he did that build. Byun did it to him on ladder and just shat on his face. I copied it, and took my free TvT wins. Also do it TvZ but cut 1 off each gas and go 3 OC

new terran meta: make a shitload of reapers, trade inefficiently, win anyways because the opponent traded even more inefficiently with their own reapers before
Why was Demuslim just marching his entire army without a forward scout (e.g. one or two marines) at all? He got burned by that widow mine and then got burned by not sieging his tanks nearly early enough He tried to scan ahead, but there was nothing there at the natural and then it was too late.
I really don't get why players that get that many hellions don't just research transformation servos. It seems like such a waste of production time to be producing hellbats and hellions separately. :\

I don't get it. Terrans have a 50 mineral Marine that they can stim for increased movement speed to scout ahead of their armies. It's a throwaway unit that's ideal for forward scouting. Just send a marine or two ahead and don't lose your entire army due to being caught out of position!

Just want to say this overlay is not as bas as yesterday's but it's written so small it's unreadable. Also just let the minerals/gas/supplies in the same order what's the point in mirroring ? Just making it hard to understand ?

they have families too...
Lol. Well, the better a job they do of scouting, the more likely their army will survive and their families back home won't be overrun by the enemy swarm / golden armada / other Terran army. So, in summary: war sucks.

A lot of Protoss players are pretty reckless with their MSC. Oz lost it for 0 damage last game, and had it way out of position this game. That snowballed to him losing.

Yeah Oz went for a 4 gate w/ warp prism attack, which did enough damage that Oz was able to pull even. The follow up push w/ three colossi won the game for him.

i cant even imagine that situation :O, so odd
The weirdest part was Apoc looked like he had it. 4 bunkers and marines in his main to stop the warp prism. Then Oz killed off two bunkers with good FF, pulled Apoc out of position, and did a bunch of damage with warp prism-ed zealots in the main.

hmm i think they have a b.o hider and they could have made sure neither of them watched the rep, also i think they have like a 10 min delay so its hard for anyone to tell them their builds

A few minutes before the match was broadcast (at a delay) demuslim tweets "I have a very honerable teammate", which has since been deleted. We all now understand that cryptic tweet.

Maybe some day foreigners will get over the fact that cheese is part of the game, It's not like the greatest Starcraft 2 player ever won a GSL on the back of it or anything.

Cheesing someone you have scouted is good strategy. Creating your own build order wins is just as much skill as macro games IMO.

Well, if you don't like cheese or aggressive play you just have to get as good as Taeja at stopping it. He at least usually scv scouts after rax on this map.

Well honestly, Demuslim got a shot to beat Apocalypse and didn't manage it. So even if Suppy loses it's not like, "OMG if Demuslim didn't get cheesed out by Suppy he would've advanced!"
Not necessarily, no. But if Apoc 2-0s Suppy convincingly whereas Demu lost 2-1 in an interesting series before, people might think Demu more capable.

that's why i don't understand bio thor... to protect thors you have to clump up marines around them and march slowly, and slow clumped marines = baneling meat
i mean top level koreans can probably pull it off but apparently not apocalypse

Bummer is, he's on the upper end of NA players, so it would actually be a loss. But hey, Tod casted and played in premier, why shouldn't Goswser?

I can definitely understand that.
HOWEVER, both demuslim and snute (from what i've seen, maybe i'm wrong) seem to have fundamental flaws in their play that they refuse to fix. Demuslim plays really really greedy without scouting, but is super strong in the midgame and late game because of his early game greed and his micro, macro, and general game sense. With respect to Snute, I believe Nerchio's response in the blog that Snute wrote was accurate in describing his flaws.
I think Vibe's strongest matchup is his ZvZ, but he pretty much has 0 chance against Jaedong. If Nestea doesn't show up in form, Vibe could beat him. His last series in WCS against theStC was a pretty close 2-1 if I recall correctly so you never know.

Bummer to see Demu go out like that, but growing in this game is a bumpy road for most players. I'm sure this will cause some healthy reconsidering of his habit of predictably super standard play in certain matchups.
I guess Suppy can forget about Demuslim playing practice games with him and giving him tips as I have seen him do before on stream. I guess winning for the chance to not move on anyway vs Apoc is more important to chemistry of your team to Suppy

It's an individual league for fucks sake, everyone is your enemy, no one is your friend. You win the games in any way possible. Only a child could possibly hold a grudge over the way someone beat you.

Demuslim can also forget about winning anything against Suppy in the future. Demuslim's 25 hours/day practice (as I have seen him do all these time) is good enough for last place. Winning a couple ladder games against NA players then getting stomped in every tournament is not a good way to continue as a pro.

Yup, having that mentality lost Idra a lot of friends on EG. Suppy took advantage of a teammate who has been his practice partner and given him advice many times. Should have played more honorably.

To Demu's credit, he did make it to ro16 in last season's premier league, and he has qualified twice for premier league, so it's not like he's just doing nothing. You think that's easy? Talk to all the pros who weren't able to do it. Yeah, it's frustrating for him, I'm sure, but if he uses these rough, highly viewed bumps in the road as a learning experience, I'm sure he'll do fine. I do think he's the better player between him and Suppy (even though Suppy beat him at MLG), and I don't see how losing to Suppy today means he should forget about winning anything against Suppy in the future, lol. I don't think that your attitude toward losing would be a good way to continue as a pro, IMO. "Welp, I lost kinda hard today. I guess everything was for nothing and I should quit!" More than a little aggressive, as well. It's funny that we're deliberating over the two players who didn't advance out of their group.

The only thing Suppy took advantage of was Demuslim's greedy builds, this has nothing to do with " honor ". Playing the game one way is no more honorable than another way. The only thing Demuslim can be justifiably angry about is losing, not losing to Suppy, not angry at Suppy for playing to win. This code of " Honor " doesn't exist in the minds of the top players in this game so it has no reason to exist for foreigners who for some reason want to continue to latch onto this idea of cheese is dishonorable and awful. A cheesy build once won a GSL for the greatest player of all time, and the poor Protoss he dishonorably defeated went on to join the same team(and presumably became friends) shortly afterwards. NesTea cheesed Losira out in the final game of their GSL finals, do you think he held a grudge?

OH NOOOOO..........All these times I have not been an honorable person on ladder. And I thought I have honor all these years growing up.
This is gold. I didnt see the games but if DemusliM was greedy he took a chance. Suppy seemed to either anticipate it or scout (as said didnt see games) and took his chance to beat him there. I can imagine DemusliM being upset about his loss but I feel he is the last person to carry it out on his teammate.
DemusliM would have taken the same chance if you give it to him I can guarantee and you know why? His job is to win, not to be a jolly fellow to his teammate. When the game is on he is just another Zerg. I played DemusliM in EPS when we were mates. He didnt lose but he is a very good Person and while he knew we would play in EPS he did still help me out in TvT etc.

Well, it also means that one of the team is guarantee'd to make it through. If they are spread to one per group, there's a quite big chance that no one of them gets to Ro16
Eventhough Demuslim is quite talented, I think he'll never have what it takes to go far in a tournament. At this point he's just a good streamer and that's it.

Demuslim just did what he does every single tvz and every person on earth knows it: The cc first no scouting build. That build leaves you a bit vulnerable before you have wall off + hellions out which Suppy took advantage of in G2. Suppy probably just tested a build that was supposed to punish that exact timing. Demuslim had just been too lazy too test his own builds for various weakness's, and instead just uses a build that does well the majority of the time on the ladder. In G1 he obv. had not taking into account that thesurface area for cc first was kinda bad on that map.
Both of the losses simply comes down to Suppy outsmarting Demusilm. Demuslim is a fantastic mechanical player, however he is either too lazy or too dumb to figure out how to play a series of games and how to optimize build orders.
Its a bit of a shame that this kind of talent is just wasted, and I think Demuslim would benefit extremely much if EG had en experienced coach helping him to think about strategies.
The one thing I'll agree with idra on is that Demuslim is the greediest player and a huge risk taker and not nearly as good as people.
I've been watching him mindlessly expand at the 3rd base at the 5 min mark in TvZ since the metalopolis days. Also see him go cc first, rax, cc in TvP.... His mechanics aren't the greatest and a lot of his wins come from eco cheese wins. Glad Suppy saw through it and punished him, perhaps it will incite Demuslim to play safer.

I wouldn't neccesarily call it greedy. For instance he gets a very early wall off at his natural usually so he is kinda safe against big speedling runs. He delays his 3rd a bit at the expense of this.
But the no-scouting comes at the expense of being exposed to builds you rarely see on the ladder. So smart players can just study his play and then develop "unusual" timings (such as 1base bling bust) to punish that style. A real professional terran player would have a couple of zerg practice players that he spent time optimizing builds together with. There is nothing wrong with using a build that has weakness's, however the problem here is that whenever he plays a tvz he has the same weakness every single game.
If, just he had spent time practicing openings with a practice partner (instead of massing ladder just) he would have realized this weakness and would mix in other types of builds that easily could deflect a one base bling bust for instance.

You don't even have to mix in other builds, you can just scv scout on 15 an make a walloff at the top of your ramp with the Rax and your Factory after floating the CC and your actually fine.

Yeh I agree - That's still a variation though. Let's say he does that thing 60% of the time and 40% of the time he does a "greedy" no scout build, and Suppy knows this. Then it isn't optimal for Suppy to ever do that allin, and Demuslim still gets the benfit of playing "greedy" 40% of the time.

If you rate him on mechanics he IMO isn't overrated. Look how well he actually does the times he gets into the midgame in even shape. If you watch him since HOTS released he rarely actually loses those games, even against koreans.
Problem is that he is so awfull at early game. All 4 loses today is related to early game and that is quite typical of him.
