It doesn't have anything new except the mothership core. All unit compositions are exactly the same in TvP in WoL and HOTS. If TvP is good, it's just another good WoL TvP. HOTS's TvP is very uninspiring and basically nothing changed..

I know there's obvious bias involved in this question and answer, but were there as many "bad" BW games as SC2? Out of curiosity I went back to some of the old BW threads and almost half of the games were not recommended. Also there was a lot of complaining about something called a "hydra bust"? Maybe BW was a better game but there is definitely some bias going on. ZvZ was terrible unless you liked Ling/Muta wars..every single freakin game unless the players name was Zero. SC2 ZvZ is more dynamic. PvP was a lot more fun though than SC2 IMO. Those reavers made the game intense. TvT...relatively the same right now as SC2: HoTS to SC:BW TvZ....still pretty good TvP...SC:BW is better...but I dont know why...somethings off..but I seriously have to check out this Hero/Baby game. PvZ..Relatively even.

Sure, BW has its deathballs, but you can not compare BW deathball versus deathball to the SC2 version of it. In SC2, these just end in 10-15 seconds, if that. Plus, in SC2, deathball is *the* optimal way to play. In BW, it is a lot more possible to utilize individual units or small groups of units. Overall, it's SC2's clumping behaviour that is the main subject of complaint regarding deathballs.

Proleague keeps getting better and better. It's like 10x better than WoL Proleague already, and the games' quality (most of them so far) are competing for the best HotS games so far. Seriously, the stream links needs to be added soon guys ![]() Proleague needs to go back to being one of the best tournaments to watch. The magic is everyone figuring out new strats and getting used to new units. In a couple of months things will get more stable but from now till maybe 3-4 months we're going to witness some amazing games. Even if they are full of mistakes, it's not because the players are bad but because everyone is still learning and exploiting that fact. Theres more to that IMO. The KeSPA map makers are more used to the gameplay of SC2 now. They know the adjustments and the kind of maps to make thus some amazing maps like Sanctuary and FS coming into play. The players are also used to the UI and the units abilities, save a few. So it's a combination of players developing new strategies for a relatively novel game and translating better as opposed to SC:BW to SC2: WoL. A great combination. the kespa mapmakers are the exact same dudes who made the GSL sc2 maps man Well, in Proleague there is more room for experimentation. GSL does have too (Icarus is probably one of the most unusual maps) but Proleague allows map makers to be a bit more creative with the maps. Yeah, that's why any match up involving Protoss in WoL is bad. It's "turtle till 200/200", then attack, then game over. It wasn't a "tug of war" or back and forth game like BW. PvT in BW was at least tug of war and back and forth, even if it's "deathballs".

It's okay, most people are too strung up on units compositions because they are used to max versus max, where that matters most. Instead, games are turning more and more into actually outplaying your opponent, utilizing each unit (even if it is technically crappy against the enemy's) to its fullest. The new units, changes to old units, metagame, better players, and a host of other other reasons "allow" for this sort of play with the old units even though they were available in WoL. Just remember: The players should orchestrate the gameplay, not the units.
