It doesn't matter if it's Team 8 or <insert team here that "is not" SKT or KT or EGTL> here. The games have been amazing. Edit - Also nice to see the stream finished. Also I'm okay with the down time being just the team's current score and match ups (I'm tired of the "mind mind mind" we had yesterday >.>).

I think the unit clumping and the fact that there's less micro-intensive unit like the colosseus in play it isnt as impactful. Also SC:BW had some terrible games as well.

HotS has done an great job at improving the gameplay of SC2, so what you hear about BW > SC2 is BW > WoL. In BW, games do not end in one huge 15 second battle. When people see good games in SC2, they just watched a back and forth game. BW was a game that allowed for more back and forth and things are not as all-inny or committed as they are in SC2. That and mechanics alone can bring yourself back in a game.

Even the bad BW games were better than average WoL ones. Hydra bust was a zerg all in against protoss where you built Hydras and attacked, pretty much. Some BW zerg players were well known for only being able to Hydra bust against protoss.

It doesn't have anything new except the mothership core. All unit compositions are exactly the same in TvP in WoL and HOTS. If TvP is good, it's just another good WoL TvP. HOTS's TvP is very uninspiring and basically nothing changed..

It's okay, most people are too strung up on units compositions because they are used to max versus max, where that matters most. Instead, games are turning more and more into actually outplaying your opponent, utilizing each unit (even if it is technically crappy against the enemy's) to its fullest. The new units, changes to old units, metagame, better players, and a host of other other reasons "allow" for this sort of play with the old units even though they were available in WoL. Just remember: The players should orchestrate the gameplay, not the units.

Few new units mix in change the way you play the game entirely...

How does oracle changes unit composition? Everyone builds one, and it's out of the army. And oh yeah! We have an oracle. Such a huge change in unit composition right now! Composition is irrelevant. Adding in new options in the form of new units changes the way the game must be played, because it opens new strategies and closes others. The matchup is in many ways more interesting now.

People are beginning to experiment with Phoenix in TvP a bit too, which only a few people (NonY comes to mind) did in WoL. Furthermore, it's not all about new units. Tanks are being invested into more heavily in TvP because of not having to invest in siege.

Mech TvP is viable now in professional plays because we have 4 widow mines in the early game in TvP! You may think, what will 1 new unit do for the game? Well, the mothership core, while simple it itself, expands the possibilities for Protoss. It is more about the possibilities that the units give than the units themselves. This roughly translates to the overall "better" games. Of course, the new units themselves are great, too. ![]() That is one of the goals of HotS, but it is, by far, not the "whole" goal. 4 widow mines in the early game changes a lot... See above paragraph. From SC1 to BW, there were only a few units added to each race. These few units *completely* changed the game (i.e. the possibilities).

I'm watching SPL on a lower quality since my bandwidth here sucks, and I just end up ignoring the health bars most of the time since I can't even read them. It's fortunate that the wireframes provide some info.

I agree with you that the lack of mech in tvp is quite disappointing and I have hopes it will be used more by pros in the future as it is learned better but tvp is different than before. Speedvacs make drops much deadlier and allows doom drops which is totally new, as well as combining them with mines. The nexus cannon is used all the time to fight off drops and pushes. Voids are used(with their new ability), oracles are used and adds a ton to the match up for harass, tracking drops and army movement, and detection. Etc. It is different and plays out a bit less boringly than before over all.

No idea how that would work for zerg though. Some Terran units already get small decals on them, notably Marines, Marauders, and maybe Vikings and Thors.

I'm not sure if these special KeSPA team decals that Proleague uses also carry over to units. They at least carry over to buildings since I see them on Starports and stuff. But a lot of Terran units do support the unlockable decals that you get as rewards for achievements and leveling. They're just really tiny to see, and afaik they don't appear on lower graphics settings.

Yes, but stable composition is different from "no unit-composition transition". They are stable, but the unit composition is changing from Tier 1 to 3. But that's not the case in TvP

Simply looking at the top games list done by TL TvZ had the most matches and most of them were at the end of the year. Even in the last GSL there were tons of great TvZ games (including the best WOL series ever played). TvP gave for more enjoyable games for me at a Code S level for the last few months, it's generally always been very compositionally rigorous, but you always felt for the most part that it was a fair one. TvZ was pretty horrible, but yeah Gumiho/Losira was absolutely ridiculous, just done my third rewatch there!

Yes, but stable composition is different from "no unit-composition transition". They are stable, but the unit composition is changing from Tier 1 to 3. But that's not the case in TvP To be fair, there were two TvPs where the Terran did end up going for a significant composition transition. Both were MVP vs Squirtle games. One was an epic GSTL finals game on Terminus RE where MVP transitioned from bio into mech and lost.. The other was the GSL finals game where MVP transitioned into Ghost-BC and lost to an Archon toilet. We'll see what happens in the future with what players do and with how Blizzard balances. I'm hoping that the tank gets buffed considering how it's in a weird position in TvZ where a lot of players are opting to build mines instead.

Need more evidence please. I eat in Korea town 4 times a week and they always fill my belly. I feel guilty paying so little. What do you mean evidence :s? From what I remember... They ordered take-out from a bunch of fried chicken/chinese restaurants in Korea, told them specifically they were going to use coupons. But a week prior they ordered from the same restaurant and measured the quantity. And they use coupons twice. Using comparative measurement, they found out the restaurants give significantly less portions when using coupons. interviewed them, they all denied it of course. Then they found out one of the restaurants give more bigger portions when using coupons, which is given for being a loyal customer. They stated it's because they want to reward for giving them business for so long. ANd they were praising them. Didnt watch the rest because I just found it so ridiculously asinine.

He didn't repair the first bunker with the SCVs either.

The armies are highly in Argo's favor 144 to 112. Argo slowly picks off units and camps the natural of hero. No storm for Argo just straight to Archons. He has +1 weapon for his ground army. Harrasment with blink stalkers at Argo's new third but he defends heros aggression. Hero can only stall to stay in the game.

First you said it qualified as great but nowhere near the best. When he asked for examples you picked some and said they were as good or maybe even better. I called you out on the difference of in one instance calling it "nowhere near the best" and then maybe as good as those examples of the very best PvT games you picked. Otherwise I agree they're all great games and I don't think any one game should ever be called 'the best ever', because there are so many things that make up a great game.

Well it's apparently still a must-see, so that's what I'll do.
