I totally agree, I am a zerg player, I have no right to complain after the fiasco that was the zerg dominance at the end of WoL. Yes there were good zerg players but imo zerrg was much stronger. Hots provides entertaining games, keep it as the game is for now until more Data

The guy posting about lucky/unlucky scarabs hits the nail on the head. That's nonsense every competitive sport in the world has some luck/randomness involved. The weather, wind, bounce of a ball, the referees decision. It makes it more exciting and entertaining for the spectator. Mines and scarabs in BW were awesome. Too much randomness is obviously bad and at the moment the widow mine might need tweaking a bit but its not far off It would be like deliberately making poor refereeing decisions in football just to spice things up a bit. Acceptable randomness is things like pulling your overlord back just inches from that proxy pylon, or things on that basis, but that's just me. Man can't control the weather (yet? maybe? someday? who knows). Man, however, can control proper programming in a computer game. Why accept randomness when you can fix it? Simply because it's more entertaining. Crucially it adds tension, which is the key to all popular sports. There's a reason nobody watches chess (and i say this as a former chess player) which is probably the least random game there is. This is balls, people don't watch football to see things like Darren Bent's infamous deflected shot off a balloon, or other freak occurrences. It does add a bit of spice and talking points afterward though, I'll give you that. Are penalties random ? Kinda, but overall the best goalkeeper wins the most. And yes, they are exciting as fuck when it comes to them.

And yes, they are exciting as fuck when it comes to them. Penalties aren't really random at all, it's a skillset I guess. A bit of guesswork and mindgames go on, but it's not 'random' as I'd see it. Random to me (as in the kind I don't want to see in SC2) would be balls that deflated in midair at random times, altering their trajectories and whatnot. Conditions of the pitch, the weather etc are all things footballers can overcome through experience or altering their approaches, whereas say scarab duffs are something that just freakily occur and you can't legislate for at all.

I said kinda, and yes they are kinda random. They are a gamble since the goalkeeper has to predict where the player is going to shoot before he jumps in that direction, hence why most penalties end in goal. Experience and reflexes can overcome some, but you can't stop most penalties, even the ones just shot to the middle with no thought/mindgame behind it.
