This was an outright attack. You wouldn't go tell a professional football player that they're washed up and it's time to retire in real life (at least not without expecting a fight); if we want this to be a place where fans and pros alike interact, the same standard has to be upheld. Fans called for washed up athletes to retire all the time. It is nothing new. And I don't believe that what someone has done in the past excuses them from criticism or someone's opinion that it might be time to move on. It isn't like Nestea is reading this and will go "oh yeah random internet guy wants me to retire I guess I will." This type of thing is pretty common in regular sports, so the fact that it is happening in e-Sports to me is a good thing. And the fact that no 'names' other than a few TL moderators/writers still post in these threads is, to me, a pretty bad thing. If this is what's needed for growth, then fine, but don't hold it against me if I'm a little bitter about it.
Turns out, people being assholes is growth. ;p

I think NesTea's last 12 months and the 12 months MVP had before he won the GSL are... significantly different ;P

Look at UFC - it's grown so much in the last 10 years, and its run by the biggest asshole in sports!

With Nestea's stance in the ESF during the whole KeSPA controversy and his general respected reputation among Koreans, there is no doubt he can gain some kind of managerial position in the E-Sports scene, or even as a coach. At the very least he could plan a major comeback when HOTS comes out. But as of right now we need to be realistic and acknowledge that at this rate, a progamer career isn't the best choice for him. Except you're questioning his major life decisions. If he's happiest playing the game, even without success, then support him in that, or express something completely different. Sure, feel that, but you sure as fuck don't have any right to express it so long as you see them as an equal and an adult, capable of making their own decisions. I'm telling you, and all the others who express this kind of thing, to think about respect before you post this kind of thing. Sure, I can loosen up, but every now and then one of these posts makes a big impact on someone. And, to me at least, that's really stupid. Why waste all this time and effort and energy getting worked up by relatively benign posts on the internet? Isn't that exhausting? Whether I'm discussing strategy or defending a viewpoint, it's all just a semi-social time-sink and I'm pretty content with doing it during lulls in the game. The fact that we've had a reasonably intelligent discussion of the issue is, to me, pretty enjoyable. I don't have any regrets, and I don't feel particularly exhausted O_o
Certainly enjoyed it more than mindlessly killing shit in Diablo 3 while I wait for something worth watching to happen ^_^

I can't remember a time when the LR threads have ever had " names " ( whatever the fuck that means ) post in them regularly. It's the TL community and the TL writers maybe occasionally Khaldor Snowbird or John will hop in and say something.

Actually, Mvp's slump could be considered a dream for many pro players out there.

I understand how you feel, and you have a point to an extent. But you have to understand that such is the nature and passion of E-sports. Fans will turn gay for their favorite players and ridicule other players for a multitude of reasons such as underperforming or being over-hyped. And for E-sports to have such passionate fans is nothing bar spectacular. Like I said, I understand why you may feel upset, but if you are going to continue to feel emotionally connected, then the forums may not be the best place for you to take too seriously because such is the nature of the Internet. Thats the whole Internet, not just TL forums.

Yea. Mvp's "slump" was him simply not winning everything.

The thing is, the problems with Nestea's play look deeper than what you would call a slump. The game isn't static, it evolves over time. Look at Nestea's creep spread in the early seasons, which for those days was decent. He still spreads creep the same way on a good day, but now the standard is much much higher. That's just one small example.
