Other people telling him to retire and calling him washed up is the same shit that has really bothered prominent people in our community - even fucking Boxer. The fact that it goes ignored in the foremost foreign starcraft community is really, really sad. Most of the other people are doing the normal things as fans - being sad, worrying that his play has hit rock bottom, expessing their faith that he will return stronger. This was an outright attack. You wouldn't go tell a professional football player that they're washed up and it's time to retire in real life (at least not without expecting a fight); if we want this to be a place where fans and pros alike interact, the same standard has to be upheld. But sure, I'll meet your passive-aggression with outright aggession if you like: fuck your sad, bitter attitude, too. ROFL why u gotta take what someone else says about another person personal to you? Professional athletes get ridiculed all the time. They get told they're washed up and should retire ALL THE TIME. Get real man, thats how things work when you are a star/former-star. You just need to face facts and chill out. PS. Nestea = washed up and should retired ![]()

And I don't believe that what someone has done in the past excuses them from criticism or someone's opinion that it might be time to move on. It isn't like Nestea is reading this and will go "oh yeah random internet guy wants me to retire I guess I will." This type of thing is pretty common in regular sports, so the fact that it is happening in e-Sports to me is a good thing. I think the "keyboard warrior" manner in which it is done is the main issue. Everyone has opinions and criticisms - but yeah... he stood up for ESF and represented what WE ALL WANTED - for KeSPA to sit the fuck down - forever respect.

Mmm. I was wondering whether he was thinking Nestea would re-qualify or if it was an intelligent burn. Actually, I knew what it was meant to be, but was amused by the irony.

But it is no secret that he has been failing for a very long time now. And when you are playing for a living, and not bringing in the cash from it, there comes a point in time where a career change may be needed - this is only logical. With Nestea's stance in the ESF during the whole KeSPA controversy and his general respected reputation among Koreans, there is no doubt he can gain some kind of managerial position in the E-Sports scene, or even as a coach. At the very least he could plan a major comeback when HOTS comes out. But as of right now we need to be realistic and acknowledge that at this rate, a progamer career isn't the best choice for him. Except you're questioning his major life decisions. If he's happiest playing the game, even without success, then support him in that, or express something completely different. Regardless of what's the most productive, he's doing what he wants to do, and that's something that should be respected. You're acting like the overbearing parent that just wants their child to settle down and get married already. Sure, feel that, but you sure as fuck don't have any right to express it so long as you see them as an equal and an adult, capable of making their own decisions. I'm telling you, and all the others who express this kind of thing, to think about respect before you post this kind of thing. Sure, I can loosen up, but every now and then one of these posts makes a big impact on someone. And, to me at least, that's really stupid.

I have infinite respect for NesTea and everything he has done but no one can deny he's playing horribly right now.

If this is what's needed for growth, then fine, but don't hold it against me if I'm a little bitter about it.
