yeah well turns out splitting corruptors and fungaling ravens makes them look pretty stupid
Because if 3 ravens didn't beat 12 BL's and 10 corruptors that means they're useless, right?
If more than 3-5 of your army supply is in Raven's your playing a very risky game. It weakens your core army enough that even with HSM you might not be able to push your advantage after the fight due to lack of a proper army. They don't have the same interaction as BL's and infestors do.
It also means if you make a single mistake and your raven's get fungal'd your dead because your relying so much on Raven's.

All the games this morning were amazing but it's really the first time in a long while I've been completely blown away by a player and my comprehension of the game has been completely shifted by their play - and that player was Symbol. Game 1 vs MKP was easily the best game of the group, and probably the best TvZ I've ever seen. It included every component that forms a great TvZ as well as a whole lot more.
MKP played excellently, maybe even a bit better than I've ever seen him play, but he was completely and utterly OUTCLASSED by Symbol. Symbol completely stampeded him over him Game 1. MKP but up a fantastic fight and pulled off some incredible moves and compositions I wasn't expecting to see, but at no point did I ever think Symbol would lose. Nearly everything about his play was immaculate, and top of that there was complete out-of-the-box strategy being implemented. Symbol's definitely gained a new fan today, I really hope he continues to play like this and wins the season; that game was leagues ahead of Nestea, Stephano or DRG (who I consider to be the best Zerg players).
Disappointing to see Parting drop, but he won't be there for long. I think YuGiOh will be though, which is a shame really.
But yeah, I can't even imagine myself playing as well as Symbol did in that game 1. I can't even grasp the mere concept of how good he is, I think this could be the start of StarCraft 2's Flash.
I honestly can't tell if this is sarcastic or not. He played well but it was nowhere near unbelievable.

On a different note, when a protoss loses, I find a lot of the time these games are voted up when they're really not so interesting.
My own opinion, but I really don't trust many of the recommendations anymore (though I do believe any MKP game voted high is usually worth watching).
From an unbiased perspective, essentially all of Symbol's games were worth watching, the series versus PartinG for flawless play from both sides, but especially some revolutionary play from Symbol, and the series vs MKP due to a jaw-dropping show-off from Symbol. Game 1 was by far the game of the night. PartinG vs Yugioh game 2 was one long wtf moment which you might find entertaining, maybe not. MKP vs PartinG didn't live up the hype though, all three games were short and lackluster.
Im reallllllly confused by this. How EXACTLY did symbol play well vs partinG? he had an un-harassed 4 base economy ( super super standard and easy when the protoss is passive). Made banelings, made ultras and just killed partinGs army in both games (in game 2, the infestors with NP were entirely unnecessary though cool, he would have Crushed that army either way) ! Game was over in 10 seconds with one army clearly being 100x better than the other, though nothing happened in the game that warranted such a lead. Just Zerg mechanics, and thats a super boring game ive seen 100 times, regardless of what units he uses.
The game was quite boring, but Symbol used an incredibly unique build with a composition that is rarely seen to just streamroll a top protoss like it was nothing. Entertaining? Not quite so much, but very impressive.
Parting's good, but he's definitely not a top Protoss in terms of PvZ. His PvT is sick good, his PvP is pretty decent but his PvZ is not up to the same standard. Not bad, but not great.

Totally agree. For some reason Parting decided to play "Who can max first" (or maybe it was "Who makes more workers") against Z. It was painful to see Symbol a-moving banelings to everything.
Best series to watch is not any of Symbol's games. MKP v Parting is by far the most tense series in this group and one to watch if you don't have time to watch all.

Your opinion seems to differ since many of symbol's games are quite recommended ;O
Wow symbol is really fucking good to beat both MKP and Parting 2-0 and 2-1 lol... maybe he will even win this season. Possibly best zerg?

You know entombed valley with MKP vs parting... is very... weird/cool/special to me whenever i see that occur, because of the bnet DC thing at the GSTL. And MKP and parting usually put up awesome games, including entombed valley, so it's kind of a cool rivalry in that way X)
symbol is really, really good, but i think he was being just a tiny bit overrated by artosis and tasteless.
of course they are a billion times better than me and know ten trillion times more about the game and zerg than i do, so where do i get off saying that, right?

Different strategies are used because of patch and the meta game shifts. It would be like saying the ghosts nerfing didn't matter because the game didn't have ghosts. The nerf IS the reason for lack of ghost.
Exactly, since ghost nerf terran has no real answer to late game zerg, and the patch helps zerg get through to this stage of the game Symbol is obviously a great player though, and showed his skills in that series for all to see.
Did they make emp and snipe completely unusable? Because I don't think they did.
They made them less good, but that's not the same thing.
Dude, Snipe doesn't even kill a Zergling anymore.
It's absolutely useless. A ghost is like an infestor whose fungal growth only works on other ghosts. Absolutely worthless in TvZ now, the Snipe nerf was way too huge and also effected some funny early game TvT builds.

DRG got Code S championship + 2x MLG's this year so far, he's pretty uncontested for the nr1 spot tbh

I haven't seen game 2 yet of symbol mkp but game 1 was a different league than any zerg I've seen before. He was near perfect.

Even if DRG bombs out this season, he should still be considered the best. He's had the best results of any player in the last 6 months.
Symbol's done good but needs more results to contend for being the best imo. He had a lot of hype going into Anaheim and disappointed there, while DRG rolled through. Don't get me wrong. If Nestea doesn't take it this season I hope Symbol does. He's quickly becoming my favorite player because of his creativity.
I havent kept up with GSL in a while, but this Symbol guy...
I caught a few of his games vs Parting lastnight, and he was playing so well. Like he would play how I would envision any top zerg to play, and he did it so well with great execution. He has amazing patience and good control. My money is on this guy to take GSL this season.
Im also prompted to buy a ticket (havent done so in a while), just so I can watch all his vods.
