they still can get code s

The only way to fall out of the GSL and forced to re-qualify is if you lose in the Code A Ro48.

but they should still be at some kind of disadvantage going into the U&D, right? i mean since they LOST in the round 32. Otherwise it would make the code A games completley pointless...
a player who goes to the round of 8 in code A should have some kind of advantage in the U&D compared to someone who fell 2-0 in R32, right?

Round 1 of Code A :: Advancement = R2, Elimination = out of the GSL

So losing in Round 2 of Code A has literary no consequenses when it comes to your chance of advancing to code S? sounds like a pretty stupid format to me....

well, you lose the opportunity to get to code S directly I guess

So losing in R2 pretty much means that you can relax and wait for the U&D instead of having to spend a week of practice for your next opponant in R3? unless i have missed something, that sounds like a pretty retarded format.

Up and Down matches are a lot more risky and tiring. There's also a bunch of luck factored into it if people in your group gets the same score as you...then winners are decided based on direct win and such...
Point is, you rather be in Code A rounds than in Up and Down.

but they miss out on the opportunity of having that match in the first place - the winner of R2 can also just as easily relax and chill and throw his R3 match and prep for the up and downs too. the up and downs are also arguably much harder than just one best-of-three against another player.

I get your point. But i still dont think you should be able to advance to Code S if you lose 0-2 in R2 code A.
If you lose in Code A r32, you should be demoted to Code A r48. The format is too forgiving.

well, i guess the main problem is that R2 losers are treated the same as R3 losers. but there's not much you can do about that if you want the current up/down format

Train for a whole week and NOT need to go through the up and downs to get into code S, which are pretty violent format wise/
